The #1 New York Times bestselling Red Queen series comes to a stunning conclusion in War Storm.

VICTORY COMES AT A PRICE.

Mare Barrow learned this all too well when Cal’s betrayal nearly destroyed her. Now determined to protect her heart—and secure freedom for Reds and newbloods like her—Mare resolves to overthrow the kingdom of Norta once and for all . . . starting with the crown on Maven’s head.

But no battle is won alone, and before the Reds may rise as one, Mare must side with the boy who broke her heart in order to defeat the boy who almost broke her. Cal’s powerful Silver allies, alongside Mare and the Scarlet Guard, prove a formidable force. But Maven is driven by an obsession so deep, he will stop at nothing to have Mare as his own again, even if it means demolish everything—and everyone—in his path.

War is coming, and all Mare has fought for hangs in the balance. Will victory be enough to topple the Silver kingdoms? Or will the little lightning girl be forever silenced?

In the epic conclusion to Victoria Aveyard’s stunning series, Mare must embrace her fate and summon all her power . . . for all will be tested, but not all will survive.

I loved the narrators, that they had different voices for each major player. The story itself was good, but I do have one complaint. It didn't tie up the loose ends like I was hoping it would. It felt more open ended than the last book of a series should be. I wanted more of a conclusion, more of a happy ending. But I did still enjoy it, even with an unsatisfactory ending.

it was going well until the anticlimactic reveal of Maven's death. The reader is left feeling like that was it?

the end was underwhelming (spoiler alert)

Loved the story up until the end. It felt abrupt and rushed. The story could have been richer with a couple more chapters or even a sequel novella.

Disappointment

I always knew it would be no small feat for Victoria Aveyard to end the series with a book more amazing than the earlier ones. It was a job really well done too... until the epilogue. I would expect an ending like this if we were to eagerly await another installment. But I was left feeling robbed of closure. What a difference just one epilogue could have made...

An unnecessarily open ending...

I love the variety of voices! Great story, but the 4th book had a couple of misses with me compared to #1,2,3. The scenes kept shifting to where I couldn't keep up sometimes, and the story had a couple of rushed moments. Honestly, Mare was a bit annoying in #4. She was written to appear "strong," but came off as weak and TOO reliant on powers she's barely had for 1 year. Her personality dipped down as the story went by from 1-4. She was best in Red Queen. She had WAY TOO MUCH attitude towards her friends and family to where she needed to chill. I understand why people were disappointed with the ending, honestly Mare overreacted a little and could've been nicer to Cal. AND Cal needs to get over himself. I hate how he was upset with Mare because she killed Maven BECAUSE SHE WAS BEING CHOKED TO DEATH! Yeah, okay Cal, she should've just let herself die so you wouldn't be upset. Overall, loved this series, ending could've been better.

Love the series! but some hit and misses with #4
