This is a wonderful story. No question about it. I enjoyed following the characters throughout this tale, engrossed in the story told by the Meister Spaeker. But ... up until the final five minutes, it did not feel like an ending. And even then, there are too many loose ends for me. Subplots left unaddressed. Incomplete.

The author rushed from an ongoing narrative into an ending, skipping ahead in time in a very forced, inorganic fashion. As though he would have rather given us an epic of five (or more) novels - Riyria style - but felt compelled to finish a trilogy. This was disappointing. There was so much mor to write of these characters that I was eager to read.

For what it was, the story is very well told. I enjoyed the narrative device employee throughout the trilogy, like a listener around the campfire with only a touch more insight than the other listeners. This was fun. Like the Society of Swords, I was entertained, though not challenged. And sometimes that is just what I am looking for.

Little finality. Delightful story overall.

The first series I read by Duncan Hamilton was the Society of The Sword series. This series takes place in the same world, making reference to the same things as the Society series. They tie together nicely. And Simon Vance is superb!

Worth It

This was the ending to a great trilogy. While I wish the ending was different, the story was still very, very good.

Great Trilogy... Loved it!!!

From the first word until the last, this story grips you and doesn't let go. Love, hate, heartbreak, and vengeance make this series a truly memorable Saga.

A wonderful telling of an amazing story
