Even heroes die.

For Riley and his friends, Sigil Online has never been more real. With the latest expansion, pain has been enabled and will now affect all players in-game.

Aptly named "Hellions", the expansion introduces monsters, but not the kind that paragons have been fighting for the past several years. This time, players can be the monsters they once sought to destroy. But in a game where playing means having the money to survive in the real world, what will Riley do when death in the game doesn't just mean an end to his character, but an end to his life?

glad the chances of the players really dying isn't as likely to be an issue in the subsequent books. I am not sure I could believe every player still deciding on playing willingly with those risks.

Glad the dying thing doesn't seem like it will be

Any additional comments?

There were a lot of changes to the story, but it felt like many of them were not even halfway explored, just prequels to the next book.
It felt like the book was cut short for one reason or another, not a great way to continue one of my top 3 LitRPG stories.

An important but short and rushed prequel to Book3

several things happen "in game" that are so absolutely stupid that any company running the game would be sued to oblivion and lost all players within a week. 3/4 of the book relies on the premise that all of that bs is fine and nothing would happen and they can even continue making abysmal decisions. Hard to enjoy the fantasy book that treats "real life" business more unrealistically than the game

I forgot how abysmal the writer is on business law

I throughly enjoy this Lit RPG series! It definitely has its own unique take on the genre as Riley is forced to grow his character through hard work and his power is cool but not nearly over powering so it’s all about allies and strategy vs curb stomping all enemies. The characters are great and continue to grow, pain is now part of the game, suspense and mystery keep the pages flying (or minutes flying if you listen). Trust me this book is worth the credit if you like the genre!!

Great Lit RPG series
