Slow start leads to a gripping story

The fact that many of the details is from real events in Stephen King’s life gives this story a more realistic or “normal” feel. The slow start also adds to that realism. The “power” among other things are never fully explained which adds to the mystery and suspense. I specifically enjoyed the ending but did not appreciate the abusive behaviour towards the cat after his metamorphosis. Also think the women’s character is a bit cliché (irrational, overly emotional, childish reactions etc.) - she lacks depth. Apart from that, still a gripping tale - definitely worth the listen.

I haven't been this scared before.

Fantastic narrator. Fantastic characters. Fantastic story. And the king of horror, as always, never ceases to amaze my impressionable brain

Was ok.

To be honest I am disappointed with the book.I thought, because has been made into a movie, it would be a great book.

Story was meandering and not very climactic. Rather labored.

brilliant writing, simple story but heartbreaking

Tough in parts, loved the description of normal life before the horror strikes. quite short for King and all the better for it.

The story itself needs to presentation, it’s just amazing chilling narrative. The narration was just perfect, great one.
