Publisher's summary

A Christian historical romance novel.

Widowed and with child, Emma Malcom is fleeing from the reward offered for her arrest. She’s innocent of the dirty dealings her deceased husband orchestrated, but the angry townspeople didn’t stop to listen to her defense before she narrowly escaped with her life. Now, she and her twin brother, Joseph, must battle the mountain wilderness of the Rockies to reach Canada and the clean start she craves. But when a fall from the rocky cliff leaves Joseph wounded and weak, could the strange mountain man they encounter be God’s gift to see them to safety?

Simeon Grant makes bad choices. His deceased wife and twin babies are lost to him now because of his reckless decisions, and the penance he pays by living alone in this mountain wilderness is only a small piece of what he thinks he deserves. When a city woman, heavy with child, appears on his doorstep with her injured brother, her presence resurrects the memories he’s worked so hard to forget. And when she asks for his help to travel deeper into the mountain country, he can’t help wonder why God would force him to relive the same mistakes he’s already suffered through. Or maybe taking these two to safety could be the way to redeem himself.

But when their travels prove more treacherous than he imagined, Simeon finds himself pressing the limits of his ability to keep Emma and her brother safe. Can he overcome the past that haunts him to be the man she needs? Will Emma break through the walls around Simeon’s heart before it’s too late, or will the dangers of these mountains be the end of them all?

Sweet story

Traveling through rough terrain isn't easy and less when pregnant but Emma (newly widow)had no choice. Along with her twin brother, they by chance get the help to get to Canada by Simeon Grant who unwillingly agrees to help them when he notices that Emma is with child. It was not an easy trip with many mishaps that drew Emma and Simon together. A sweet story full of strength and courage and of course a happily ever after.

Beautiful story of redemption!

God redeems both of the main characters in a beautiful way that brings them together! This tale is full of love, adventure, pain, and fear, but God uses it all for His glory!

The narration was perfect and I never had to guess who was speaking!

Christian Romance with a Powerful Punch

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this book thoroughly. The mountain wilderness was the perfect backdrop to this emotionally charged romance. Simeon and Emma were relatable, deep characters with realistic problems. If you like brooding, capable mountain men and strong, virtuous women, (and some adventure to boot), this is a story for you!

Everything But the Title

This is my first Misty M. Beller novel and I really liked it. It’s not my favorite time period, but her characters are wonderful. I didn’t care for the title, because the journey was full of grace and faith. The romantic tension is excellent and the plot kept me engaged.

Heart Tugging Lovely Story ;-)

This is the kind of story that tugs at the heart right from the beginning and leads you through a journey of life lessons and love. It is a well written tale of love lost then found again. Truly heartwarming! I am looking forward to the next book in this series and hope that Leonor A Woodworth narrates the rest of the series. Her narration is perfect for this type of adventure.

Great Story

Filled with twists and turns, romance, and love. The narrator was great with distinguishing the different characters. The emotion of the characters was evident and the way the author divided the chapters as journal entries was unique and added dimension.

Sweet and emotional

Such a great story! Full of love and loss, the story really held my attention. Even though I don’t read many books with religious beliefs being in the forefront, I truly enjoyed this one and didn’t feel as though the author was trying to force it on me. I enjoyed reading about some characters’ utter faith and other’s loss of it. I felt that it fit well with the story,

The characters were great. I found them believable and cared about what happened to them. I found myself on the edge of my seat a few times, worrying about the outcome for them. It was quite engrossing. I look forward to reading more by this author,

The narrator did a wonderful job with this nook. The characters were easily identifiable and realistic. She emotes very well. I would definitely listen to more by her.
