Great story about Peter Jackson's early works and of course the epics The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The narration was incredibly rich and satisfying!

Still More to Discover in Middle-earth

If you’re like me and have rewatched all the making-of and behind-the-scenes content countless times, you probably think you’ve heard it all. Trust me—I was incredibly surprised. The book dives into all the stepping stones of Peter Jackson’s life that led to the trilogy, and the overwhelming number of pieces that had to come together for it to even see the light of day.

This book is packed with entertaining, detailed insight into the making of the trilogy, with plenty that still feels new. Wonderfully written, and Tristram Wymark elevates it into an engaging experience rather than a simple narration. I couldn’t put it down.

It even gave me a slightly different perspective on The Hobbit films, which I didn’t expect.

He gets very defensive of the Hobbit movies which seems a little silly, but hearing the behind the scenes stories from the making of LOTR was excellent.

If you’re a fan of the films and/or the source material, you’ll love it. If you’re a fan of film/filmmaking in general, you’ll love it. If you’re a fan of quality storytelling, you’ll love it. And the narration is absolutely top tier. I’ve listened to this audiobook multiple times. If you’re unsure about buying it, this is your sign to go ahead and spend that credit. You won’t regret it

Really fun book

You've seen the extended editions, you've watched every mini-documentary, you've read and seen the reviews, articles, websites and interviews, so do you really need this book? Yes!
It's worth your time. You'll be surprised that, despite your depth of knowledge, there is still more to know. And oh man, is there ever. It's also about the business of making films. And, for most Americans, background material on Jackson and co., will be new and interesting.
Also the narrator is hilarious. He knows when the author is interjecting humor and plays it perfectly. But more than that, he's authentic. He's at ease with the subject as well as the people from top to bottom. I doubt that any of them have any problem with anything written or said here.
Way better than I thought it would be. Nab it!
