The Little Paris Bookshop meets Jojo Moyes in Goodbye, Paris, an utterly charming novel that proves that sometimes you have to break your heart to make it whole.

From the simple melody of running her violin shop to the full-blown orchestra of her romantic interludes in Paris with David, her devoted partner of eight years, Grace Atherton has always set her life to music.

Her world revolves entirely around David, for Grace’s own secrets have kept everyone else at bay. Until, suddenly and shockingly, one act tips Grace’s life upside down, and the music seems to stop.

It takes a vivacious old man and a straight-talking teenager to kick-start a new song for Grace. In the process, she learns that she is not as alone in the world as she had once thought, that no mistake is insurmountable, and that the quiet moments in life can be something to shout about…

Filled with charming and lovably flawed characters—and illuminated with the undeniable romance and magic of Paris—Goodbye, Paris is a poignant, compulsively readable novel that shows us that when it comes to love, there’s more than one way to find happiness.

I absolutely adored this book. It was so well written and the story so original and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely not one of those predictable storylines. It was wonderful.

Absolutely gorgeous. A delight for both a Paris lover and. Music lover, and for those of us lucky enough to have had friends rescue us from time to time. I’m proud of Grace and her journey! I just finished binging on Mozart in the Jungle. This was different but also perfectly in line with what I loved about that show.

Delightful Twist of a “Mozart in the Jungle” story

This was a good story but I thought it focused too much on the instrument making which got a little boring. Interesting characters and a good narrator though.

An ok story

So well written, and a wonderful story line

Overall it was a little dull. I wish there wasn't so much detail about building the instruments. I thought it would be more of a story about her heartache but it's not.

Just ok.
