Half a million dollars will be Celeste Thorne’s reward for spending four years of her life in total isolation. No faces. No voices. No way to leave.

Since Celeste has never really worried about being alone, the generous paycheck she’ll receive for her participation in the solitary psychological experiment seems like easy money.

When she finds an injured hiker in the woods bordering her living compound, her strictly governed world is thrown into disarray. But even as she struggles with the morality of breaking the rules of the experiment, Celeste can’t deny her growing attraction to the kind and enigmatic Olivia Soldano. Still, how much can you really trust a stranger? And how much can you trust yourself when you know all the faces you’ve seen and voices you’ve heard for the past three years have only been your imagination?

But what’s real? Celeste’s reality may lie somewhere between the absolute truth and a carefully constructed deception.

This was a good time. There are some unfortunate lezzy audiobooks in audible’s arsenal, but this wasn’t one of them. Abby goes Italian! I plowed through this one in a day, and the gooey blob where my romantic heart used to be was fortified by E.J.’s inspired words.

Niiiiooooooccce!

This is a gripping story and the reading of it was fantastic. I listened to it almost non stop and was totally enthralled by it. I think I will be mulling over this story and hold it close for quite sometime. So many layers to it.....I wish I could give it 6 stars at the very least!

Wow! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I wanted to say that I expected every second of this book, but I didn't. Even from reading the blurb that caused me to download it, only told me an idea of what it is really about. I recommend this book for anyone who has given up on love and is looking for something to make them feel again. For someone who may feel alone. As I listened to this, it gave me a chance to think about me. It was eye-opening to me and I feel it would be to anyone who kept the world six feet away even before The Zombie Apocalypse of Stupidity encouraged us to. Overall this book in a haunting reminder that things have a way of working out, even when we think that they are most bleak. I enjoyed the voice work, though I feel that Olivia's accent was a little off, sounded more French than Italian to me. The voices used for sub-characters are engaging and the voice actress doing the reading drew me in, so much that I often stayed up way to late entranced by both the story and her pleasant voice. As an avid reader (listener) to LGBT+ themed books, I will give this one a high rating. It touched on a more truthful side of lesbian relationships, instead of the over-sanitized ones I see so often in the fiction world. It is nice to see that pain and torment that a real relationship can have, the understanding of betrayal and longing for what we want most, Happiness. Give this a try.

Love is a funny thing.
