Not my favorite Milena McKay book

Overall the story is good and the narration is amazing (always is when Abby Craden does anything), but this isn’t Milena Mackay’s best book. I’m glad a listened to it and it was certainly worth my time and entertaining, but she does a much better job with the whole “ice queen” concept in her book A Whisper of Solace (also narrated by Craden)

Solid Story

Having read several books in this genre, I find this to be a delightful story that veers slightly from the norm when it comes to how challenges facing the main characters are handled. The main characters have depth and the secondary characters are fun and endearing (for the most part…). Definitely worth a listen.

Not bad

Despite this being set at "Three Dragons Academy," there are no dragons, nor any other fantastical or supernatural element. That is, not unless you count the extremely unrealistic depiction of the academy cat, who would seem better suited to being a sidekick in a Disney movie than an animal in serious adult fiction. I also take issue with the identity and motivation of the would-be murderer. Could they really have gone on that long without anyone having a hint of their true motivation or personality? That seems extraordinarily unlikely.

I do appreciate the strong liberal leanings of the book, including the Trump-slamming.

And the descriptions of the headmistress are enjoyable.

100% a Fan!

Ms. McKay weaves a story of intrigue, love, misdirection and finding your Prince Charming, even in yourself. Abby Craden's voices of the characters is so clear, there is no confusing Lily with Sam or Sam with the narrator. Ms Craden's vocal rendering of Headmistress Knox was captivating, like a drug. I am hook. Bravo to each of you. Melena and Abby, I hope you two continue this dynamic partnering. The chemistry is pure gold. I wait impatiently for a fourth in this genre of love with an age gap. BTW - I love how the current three audiobooks have elements of the next or former one. I think of them as a series. Is there a fourth or fifth one in the works, bringing all the main characters together? 😉

A Decent Read

Probably not going to be the popular opinion, but I didn't care much for Sam. She felt preachy and had a bit of a sanctimonious attitude about her that was a bit alienating to me. Especially with one of the characters who watched over her being done a bit dirty.That aside, the story was well written and better still narrated.
