Felicity Jones has the worst luck in men. Ever since she walked away from her high school sweetheart, she's been in one bad relationship after another. Now, at 28, her current relationship has her rethinking life.... She's pretty sure this guy is the worst of all of them. Left clinging to hope, Felicity prays there's someone out there who will free her from this monster.
Liam Carver has been with the department eleven years - on the SWAT team for six. He's seen his share of bullshit. But this call out is different. This time, it’s someone he knows...someone he loved.
Felicity broke his heart in high school when she went off to college and never looked back. He thought she was the one he'd spend forever with. Since then, he's sworn off relationships, saving himself from anymore heartache. But seeing her again stirs up feelings he thought he'd buried long ago.
Can love heal all wounds, or will darkness keep them from a happily ever after?

Mature listener warning: This audiobook contains a lot of panty-dropping sexiness! There is raw sexual language (a.k.a. dirty talk), some sexual violence, and tons of heat! It is intended for listeners 18 and up and fans of the naughty stuff. If that's you, then be sure to check it out! Please note there are some domestic violence scenes, so avoid this story if that is a trigger for you.

Felicity left her hometown and her boyfriend for college ten years ago. She’s back, and her new boyfriend came along. And he doesn’t want to leave. No matter how many times she tells him to. When he shows her who’s the boss, will her ex, working on the force, be able to save her?
There was again a bit too much manicheism for my taste. Between the devoted ex who doesn’t ask for anything from Felicity, and the bastard who bosses her around, the contrast is pretty clear, even blinding. They both are stereotypes more than characters. As for Felicity, she soon becomes a side character of her own story.
But the subject is treated with respect, though in a very explicit way. But it’s understandable, as the reader must feel the horror of Felicity’s situation. The aftermath went a bit too fast though. Even with ellipses, I thought she recovered quickly.
As for the narrator, he annoyed me even more than in the first book. And there are obvious mistakes in the recording that have been kept in the final editing. I’ll probably read more of the series, but not as audiobooks.
Another tough subject for this series

The narrator does a fabulous job with the characters and voices of each character making it easy to distinguish between characters. I will definitely recommend this book!
