Short on time? Or maybe you’ve already read or listened to the book, but need a refresh on the most important takeaways. In a quick, easy listen, you can take the main principles from On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century!

In On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century, Timothy Snyder provides a stark warning for the future of American democracy. Too easily are we ignoring the ways in which tyranny starts to eat away at democracy. As our political system faces new threats - not unlike those faced by democracies in the 20th century - we must look to the past to safeguard our future.

With lessons from the rise of communist and fascist regimes in Europe during the previous century, Snyder provides a blueprint for how we can protect the basic rights promised in our constitution through the mundane choices we make every day and the difficult choices we may be forced to make in the near future.

The computer voice introduction by ninja reeds is terrible. We need more of a human world comma not a robotic one. While Timothy Snyder's book is excellent and important today, this is an abridged version and timothy has a bad cough during parts of it, making it a poor recording. Get the unabridged book and listen to that or read it.

The concept is great. But a lack of non partisan view point makes it difficult to swallow. A lot of the points can be applied to presidents through out history as well as senators and house members on both sides.

the narration was one of the worst I have listened to on audible books. narrator would be reading along and then pause, then restart many times during the book terrible splice job on restarts that are very distracting

broken narration, too many restarts

How one could let this recording slip by with errors, coughs, repetitions, does a disservice to this very important book.

Normally I hate cliff notes. They strip all the joy and pleasure of reading great works and leave you with the dry bones. Because you are reading this review I know you don’t feel the same way. This was a great/must listen. The failure of the engineers to edit out the burps and coughs added some much needed hilarity.

Save the world today! Listen ( and chuckle(?) a bit)
