Baron Trump's Marvelous Underground Journey by Ingersoll Lockwood was published in 1893. The novel recounts the adventures of the German boy Wilhelm Heinrich Sebastian Von Troomp, who goes by the name "Baron Trump", and his dog Bulger, as they discover fantastic underground civilizations, offend the natives, escape from their involvements, and repeat this pattern until arriving back home at Castle Trump.

The novel was part of a trend in American children's literature that responded to the demand for fantastic adventure stories created by Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865).

Was told this book was a conspiracy theory type of book and had an underlying to it. But I didn't think so

It was fine.

The story was very good but the imagery was outstanding. What a great book for children to read. If I had to complain about anything it would be the narrator. she can't pronounce half the words correctly. By the way she was saying the words (ie, "grotto" she kept pronouncing it "grow-doe") it's obvious she had never heard most of the words in the book. Other than her butchering the story, I very much enjoyed it.

Great Story

Perhaps. The best part of this novel is the narrator, Molly Mae, who does an excellent job performing various voices. I find that the plot built up to an underwhelming ending: Little Baron returns home safely and unchanged from his journey.

There is zero character growth and an anticlimactic ending. I plan to exchange this book for something else.

Conspiracy Theory?

Good Story. I think I would have like the story more if the performance would have been better. usually the performer makes you feel you are part of the story but she literally just read the book.

Good Story

The narration was extremely distracting from the story line. She pronounced and annunciated every word in such an unnatural, forced way. It was an irritant and took my focus away from the story. The story line was interesting enough to trybtonfight through the annoying voice reading it.

Honest opinion
