great book

this story is great. You get all range of emotions from it. I had to keep listening to it. i will be listening to more of this series. She learned and listened and acheived but things happen

Great start

This was a good start to the series. This was different than other academy books I read or listened to. Can’t wait to see what comes next.

Interesting listen, but...

This is an interesting read. I really liked the concept of a paranormal ruling class with underlings and an academy training them for their future. Also, the FMC's sexual tension going on with one of the guards was interesting, but definitely a slow burn (if anything will come of it). What brought it down to three stars was it had some plot holes. I had to double-check that I was reading book one in the series because it almost read like it picked up in the middle of a story. Maybe this is part of a larger world? If so, it would have been nice to know that in the blurb so I could mentally prepare for that and not feel like I was missing something.

As for the narrator, she wasn't my favorite. The quality is fine and she's easy to understand, but her voice just isn't that pleasant to listen to. It probably also impacted my enjoyment of the story. 3-stars for narration

Interesting book

While the story was extremely interesting and I will be interested in reading more, the narrator's voice is at an pitch that bothers me. While she did a wonderful job with the story I had a hard time staying in the story as I had to take many breaks because of the pitch.
