Never mess with a witch who bites back.

I’m Rachel Collins, low witch and raven shifter in hiding. I spend my days tending the cash register at a local magic shop and my nights patrolling the streets for vampires with a death wish. Until the night I spot the mark of the Soulless on some lowly vampire’s wrist.

The Soulless answer to Valkas, the original vampire and the most ruthless of them all. They’re the same bloodsuckers who murdered my parents and kidnapped my sister. I want answers—and maybe a little revenge.

Along comes Venn, a handsome, protective wolf shifter who takes my breath away. We’re both after the same guy, and as much as it kills me to ask for help, I kind of need it.

Heaven help me. The dark, dangerous road we’re traveling together will either free my sister or get me killed.

I loved the world and the characters. I wasn't sure about the narration at first but really loved it about a chapter in. The story sucked me in and wouldn't let me go!

Ravenite (Vengeance and Vampires Book 1) ~~ This book throws you right into the danger from page one. Ravenite sets the tone for a world where vampires aren’t sparkly or charming — they’re brutal, territorial, and ready to eliminate anyone who gets in their way. The main characters are thrown into survival mode fast, and you feel every bit of that tension. The pacing is sharp, the stakes are high, and you can tell Alicia Rades wasn’t playing around with this series.

What hooked me immediately was how human the emotions still feel in the middle of all the chaos. There’s fear, loyalty, anger, and that desperate need to protect the people you care about even when you’re completely outmatched. The characters’ relationships start forming right away, and every single scene pushes them closer together or rips something important away.

There’s action, betrayal, and that creeping feeling that the vampires always seem one step ahead. The ending sets up the rest of the series perfectly — you’re left wanting answers, wanting vengeance, and honestly wanting someone to finally put these monsters in their place.

I would definitely recommend this book and series and can’t wait to start on the next book. If you want to know what happens next, you’ll just have to read this series yourself — you won’t regret it.

Awesome story with the main character, Rachel, being a raven shifter and witch! Her love interest is a wolf shifter. This is my first Alicia Rades book from Audible.com.

Pretty good story!

My biggest complaint is that the main protagonist is stupid and apparently doesn’t learn from her mistakes. Here are a couple of examples. She is losing a fight when a were comes along and saves her. She responds she can look after herself and doesn’t need rescuing. Later more of these scenes are repeated with her getting captured and then trotting out that she’s fine on her own.

Stupidity abounds
