Hope Through Transparency
THANK YOU! I've been dealing with chronic back pain from a car accident for 15 years ago, and just went to Mayo Clinic to be diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis. I'm an Ironman triathlete, mom of 2, Registered Nurse, positive motivator, coach and yet, this new diagnosis SLAMMED me to my core. I SINCERELY appreciate you doing this podcast, being transparent with your story and giving me hope there's help beyond meds and Western medicine. Congrats on your healing and thank you for helping me establish my journey to healing! Keep up the fantastic work!

beautifully said! *claps*
as someone who was just told 5 days Ago that the radiologist claims my xrays were 'inconclusive " now 29 y/o female that i have bone spurring with degeneration of the SI scarlili....blah blah blah" my rheumatologist says he needs a MRI of the SI joints to confirm but on the original x-ray the radiologist wrote Asymmetric sclerotic changes about
the distal right
sacroiliac joint associated with
spurring. This has the
appearance of degenerative changes
but would be quite
advanced for patient's age. Given
patient's symptoms consider further evaluatuion with With SI mri" to me that says "were covering our behinds here" LOL ty I'll be listening to all of your stuff tyvm

Insightful.
1/25/24
The part about video games can trigger a sympathetic response is enlightening. I sensed that sometimes music videos or other media making my muscles tense.
Mind healing makes a lot of sense because I have a long history of anxeity and stress which does seem to trigger more pain and walking issues.
Hoping these practices will help me cure. If they do I will leave an update.

True HOPE and HEALING for Ankylosing Spondylitis!
I love these podcasts. They have been wonderful for me, getting back on track with healing my AS. It’s devastating to be diagnosed with such a painful disease, and you are told there is no cure. The AS websites made me more depressed, sad and not much hope. Same with doctors. There is HOPE here people and these podcasts are free, you have nothing to lose and so much to gain by listening. I wasn’t diagnosed until my mid-50s, and I was already in advanced stages of the disease, my spine had fused. I sought medical help over and over when I was in my 20s. I was very active as an adult, yet I had so many back problems—so much pain, doctor/physical therapy/chiropractic visits over 30 years. I finally started analyzing my blood tests to see what type of specialist I should be looking for to get help. Found a Rheumatologist who suspected AS during my first appt. Yet, there still was NO HOPE, only biologics with horrible side effects that you have to take forever. I am on my way to healing and have many pain free days, when for years I had ZERO. I am going to go the extra mile and see if I can unfuse my spine. Why not, I have nothing to lose. Keep up the great podcasts. There is hope if you have chronic pain, not just AS. Thank you Sky & Peter.

Wow! What a disappointment
I started with episode 3 first for a reason. You didn't even say the words auto immune disorder. instead, you say it's caused by shame? I was a healthy, happy 13 year old girl when my symptoms hit me in a life changing way. After decades of being misdiagnosed and basically told it was alll in my head I finally found a Dr who diagnosed me after it was obvious. That was the first time I had ever heard the words ankylosing spondylitis. She explained the damage that was done and why. From that day I've been educating myself. I already spent years on the meditation, and the "You can Heal Your Life" through positive thinking etc.. I still have a hunch back. I'm done with blaming this illness on how I think. Your message may be well meaning but it actually adds insult to injury. of course positive thinking and a healthy lifestyle will help any illness and pain but you, here, have gone too far. You ignore the reality of what AS is that many people are struggling with and you offer a fantasy that many before you have sold in countless self help books and, yes, made bank off of other's pain and suffering. I'm sure your success and your bank account helps you with your stress levels and good eating. I expected some of what you gave here. i didn't expect the wholesale "shameless" message of blame the sick person's thoughts and their shame for the AS they will live with for the restof their life. Really, I have to wonder how much of a narcissist you have to be to be ok with yourself right now.
