קרבנו של מצורע הוא "קרבן עולה ויורד" [כמ"ש בראשון דפ' מצורע] שבזה מודגש הענין ד"איני מבקש כו' אלא לפי כחן" שלכן תובעים מכאו"א כפי הישג ידו בלבד. ואעפ"כ ישנו דין ש"עני שאמר קרבנו של מצורע זה עלי והי' המצורע עשיר ה"ז מביא על ידו קרבנות עשיר וכו'"! ולכאו' איך תובעים ממנו להביא קרבנות עשיר שלא כפי הישג ידו?! אלא מזה גופא שישנו פס"ד והלכה שחייב להביא קרבן עשיר מוכרח לומר שהקב"ה יתן לו את האפשרות להביא מממונו קרבנות עשיר. והוראה נפלאה מזה: כאשר יהודי מחליט במס"נ לעשות ליהודי שני דבר טוב כזה שהוא למעלה מכחותיו ה"ז דבר ברור שהקב"ה יתן לו את האפשרות לקיים החלטתו! וכפי שראו הנהגה כזו אצל כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, ולדוגמא הסיפור על היהודי שלקח ע"ע הדפסת ספרי הצ"צ שזה הי' למע' מכחותיו ובירכו הרבי ונעשה עשיר וקיים הבטחתו! ועוד.

The metzora’s offering is a sliding-scale offering (as it says at the beginning of parashas Metzora), which is offered only according to his means, emphasizing that “I request only … according to their ability.” Nevertheless, there is law stating that, “If a poor person said, ‘The offering of this metzora is upon me,’ and the metzora was wealthy, [the poor person] must bring a wealthy person’s offering on his behalf...” Seemingly, how can the poor person be required to bring the offering of a wealthy person, which is beyond his means? From the very fact that there is a halacha obligating him to do so, we must say that Hashem will grant him the ability to bring a wealthy person’s offering, and from his own funds. And this is the wondrous lesson: When a Jew resolves with mesiras-nefesh to do a favor for another Jew, even when it is beyond his natural capacity, it is clear that Hashem will grant him the ability to fulfill his resolution. As we saw with my father-in-law, the Rebbe, including the well-known story of the Jew who undertook to fund the printing of the Tzemach Tzedek’s seforim: at the time of his commitment, it was beyond his capacity, but with the Rebbe’s bracha he became wealthy and fulfilled his pledge.

אם בכל יום, הן ביום (כשאצלו "אור") והן בלילה (כש"חושך" אצלו), צ"ל "יציאת מצרים" – היציאה ממיצרים וגבולים, ובאופן של "דילוג" – מהו החידוש בזה כשמגיע שבת הגדול וחג הפסח? אלא שבמשך חגה"פ הנה בכל רגע ורגע חדור הכל ובגלוי עם יצי"מ, הן בענין החיובי שבזה והן בשלילת ההיפך מזה – "בל יראה ובל ימצא". ועד"ז בשבת הגדול נוהגים בגלוי בכמה ענינים שקשורים עם יצי"מ, ועד שנק' "שבת הגדול" ע"ש ה"נס גדול" וכו'. אלא שעפי"ז מה מוסיף בזה – מקור ויסוד הענין בחגה"פ – הענין דיצי"מ בכל יום במשך השנה? אלא שהענין דיצי"מ בחגה"פ הוא שלא בערך יותר כאשר זה בא לאחרי ההכנה לזה בזכירת יצי"מ במשך השנה. וכמו שרואים בפועל שכאשר העבודה של יצי"מ אצלו הוא בתמידיות ובחיות בכל יום במשך כל השנה, הנה כאשר מגיע שבת הגדול קל לו יותר לעמוד בהתעוררות גדולה, ועאכו"כ בחגה"פ.

If one is obligated to remember the Exodus from Egypt (leaving one’s constraints and limitations) every day, both by day (when it is light for a person) and by night (when it is dark) – what is added on Shabbos Hagadol and Pesach? The answer is that on Pesach, every single moment is permeated openly with the Exodus, both in terms of proactively leaving Egypt, and in terms of avoiding chametz. Similarly, on Shabbos Hagadol there are a number of customs that are openly linked to the Exodus from Egypt, to the extent that it is called “Shabbos Hagadol” on account of the “great miracle” that occurred etc. But if so, the question can be asked in the reverse: what is added by remembering the Exodus every day? The answer is that the Exodus from Egypt on Pesach is incomparably greater when it comes after preparing for it by remembering the Exodus from Egypt during the year. And as is seen in practice: when one experiences the Exodus every day, constantly and with vitality, then when Shabbos Hagadol arrives, it is easier for him to be awakened, and all the more so on Pesach.

החיוב להזכיר יציאת מצרים פעמיים בכל יום מדגיש עד כמה זה "יסוד ועמוד" באמונתנו שצריך לחדור את כל פעולות במשך היום. כי קיום תומ"צ, ש"היא חיינו ואורך ימינו", קשור עם יציאת מצרים. וכמ"ש בתניא שע"י העסק בתומ"צ כדבעי נעשה "צווותא וחיבור" עם הקב"ה שזהו יציאה מכל המיצרים וגבולים, וזה דורש גם הכנה מצדו – לצאת ממיצרים וגבולים שלו. ואף ש"אין חבוש מתיר עצמו מבית האסורים" – הנה א) הרי יש לו את "הקב"ה עוזרו" (כמו שיציאת מצרים כפשוטו היתה ע"י הקב"ה), ובהיותו הבורא של כל המציאות של "מצרים" ו"גלות", וה"גוזר" שיהיו במצרים וכו' – פשוט שה"בית אסורים" אינו פועל בו שום גרעון ח"ו. ב) גם ביהודי עצמו שצריך לצאת ממצרים יש את נקודת היהדות ועצם הנשמה שמלכתחילה לא הלך בגלות, וזה פועל על כחותיו הגלויים ועד למחשבה דיבור ומעשה לעמוד במצב של "בן חורין" אמיתי.

The obligation to recall the Exodus from Egypt twice every day emphasizes how much the Exodus is a “foundation and pillar” of our faith, which must permeate all of one’s deeds the day. Because keeping all of Torah and mitzvos –“our life and the length of our days” – is tied to the Exodus, as explained in Tanya: when one properly engages in Torah and mitzvos, he forges a connection and bond (tzavsa v’chibur) with Hashem, which constitutes an exodus from all constraints and limitations. This also requires preparation on one’s own part, to leave his own constraints and limitations. And although “A prisoner cannot free himself from prison” nevertheless: (a) “The Holy One, blessed be He, helps him” (just as Hashem redeemed the Jewish people from Egypt). Obviously, since it is Hashem who created the whole existence of Egypt and exile, He is not subject to their restrictions chas v’shalom. (b) Even within the Jew himself, there is the pintele Yid and the essence of his soul, which never went into exile to begin with. This spark empowers his revealed faculties, down to his thought, speech, and action, so that he can be a truly free person.
