[המשך] קל יותר לילדים למלא את שליחותם הנ"ל להשפיע על הוריהם משההורים ימלאו את שליחותם... כי כדי שההורים יפעלו על הילדים צריכים לפעמים לומר מילה או לעשות תנועה קפדנית, אבל כדי שהילדים יפעלו על הוריהם לא צריכים לזה אף פעם, מצד האהבה הגדולה של ההורים לילדים. אם הילדים רק ידברו להורים בדברים לבביים היוצאים מן הלב ומתוך כבוד, ויסבירו להם שרוצים שהבית יתנהל כבית יהודי בכל המובנים, כולל להתכונן לימי הפסח באופן שחג הפסח יהי' כשר ושמח – ברור שהדברים יכנסו ללב הוריהם ויפעלו פעולתם וימלאו את בקשת הילדים בשמחה! ובכן, הילדים שכבר עשו זאת – שימשיכו, ואלו שעדיין לא – שיתחילו: על כל בן או בת לגשת להורים ולדבר אתם על יהדות בכלל ועל ההכנות לפסח בפרט, ולהבטיח ולהראות דוגמא חי' שהם מתכוונים לזה באמת עי"ז שלוקחים חלק בזה בעצמם, ובודאי יפעלו פעולתם!

(Continued.) It is easier for children to fulfill this abovementioned mission of influencing their parents than it is for parents to fulfill their mission toward their children. Because for parents to influence their children, they sometimes need to use a sharp word or gesture etc., but that is never necessary when it comes to children influencing parents, due to the parents’ great love for their children. If children simply speak to their parents with respect and with words that come from the heart, explaining that they want the home to be conducted as a Jewish home in every respect, including preparing for Pesach in such a way that it will be a kosher and happy Pesach – it is certain that the parents will gladly fulfill their children’s request. Children who have already done so should continue, and those who have not yet done so should begin: every boy and girl should approach their parents and speak to them about Yiddishkeit in general, and about preparing for Pesach in particular, and they should promise, and demonstrate that they truly mean it, by personally taking part in the preparations – and then their words will surely have their desired effect.

כמו שצריכים לדבר להורים על כמה הם מקבלים מהילדים, "והשיב לב אבות על – ידי – בנים", כמו"כ צריכים לדבר לילדים עצמם על גודל אחריותם על הנהגת ההורים ושל כל המשפחה (ועד שבהם תלוי' הגאולה האמיתית והשלימה!)! ובכן, פונים בזה להילדים: גם כשילדים מברכים עוד יהודי מתקיים בהם "ואברכה מברכיך" – שה' מברך אותם להיות מקור של נחת להורים ע"י הנהגה ראוי' ומילוי שליחותם בעולם, שהוא: הנוער הם העתיד של המשפחה ושל העם! ביחד עם קיום מצוות כיבוד אב ואם, עליהם לדעת שיש עוד תרי"ב מצוות שיהודי צריך לקיים, ורק כך יהיו ילדים טובים ויתנו להורים כבוד ונחת אמיתי. והזמן להתחיל זאת, שיבטיח ש"גם כי יזקין לא יסור ממנה", הוא, כמ"ש בתורה, "משהתינוק מתחיל לדבר" צריך לומר לו "תורה צוה לנו משה וגו'" (ורק לאחרונה "גילוי" בני-אדם ההשפעה העמוקה שיש למה שתינוק (דוקא) רואה או שומע על כל ימי חייו). והנהגתם הראוי' תביא חיות ואור לכל הבית! זוהי זכותם אחריותם ושליחותם! Just as parents must be spoken to about how much they receive from their children (“He will return the heart of the fathers through the children”), so must the children be spoken to about the great responsibility they bear for the conduct of their parents and of the entire family (to the point that the true and complete Redemption depends on them). Therefore, we turn to the children: The verse “I will bless those who bless you” applies even when children bless another Jew – Hashem blesses them to be a source of nachas to their parents by behaving properly and fulfilling their mission in the world, which is to be the future of the family and of the Jewish nation. Along with the mitzvah of honoring one’s father and mother, children must know that there are another 612 mitzvos, and only by keeping them will they fulfill their mission and give their parents true honor and true nachas. This must begin from a very young age, as the Torah teaches, “From when a child begins to speak,” one must say to him, “The Torah that Moshe commanded us…”; this ensures that “even when he grows old he will not depart from it” (scientists have only recently begun to discover the profound impact on a child’s entire life from what they see or hear as an infant). The children’s proper behavior brings vitality and light to the entire home; this is their privilege, their responsibility, and their mission. (To be continued.)

א) "אין צו אלא לשון זירוז, מיד ולדורות". ההוראה מזה – בשתים: 1) העבודה בכל עניני תומ"צ צ"ל בזריזות, וכמ"ש אדה"ז (באגה"ק) גודל מעלת הזריזות וכו' 2) הפעולה של עבודתו בכל עניני תומ"צ צ"ל לא רק על כל בנ"י שבדורו אלא גם "ולדורות"!. ב) בטעם מצות חביתי כה"ג [שבהתחלת שני דפ' צו], מבאר בספר החינוך שמצד יחודו של הכה"ג וכו' ראוי שיהי' לו קרבן מיוחד תמיד בכל יום כמו תמידי הצבור וכו', ובעבודה: כה"ג הוא בחי' היחידה של כלל ישראל, ועד"ז ישנה בחי' היחידה בנשמת כ"א שפועלת בו תמיד במשך כל היום, אבל זוהי בבחי' מקיף, וכדי שתפעל פעולתה גם באופן פנימי ה"ז ע"י שממשיכים אותה בפרטים וכו' – "זאת תורת החטאת" זאת תורת האשם" שבהמשך השיעור חומש.

(a) On the opening verse of parashas Tzav, Rashi writes: “Tzav always connotes urging, immediately and for future generations.” The lesson is twofold: (1) All aspects of Torah and mitzvos must be done with alacrity, in line with the Alter Rebbe’s discussion in Iggeres HaKodesh about the tremendous quality of alacrity etc. (2) One’s service must affect not only all the Jewish people of his generation, but also future generations. (b) Sefer HaChinuch explains that the reason for the Chavitei Kohen Gadol (discussed in sheini of parashas Tzav) is because due to the unique status of the Kohen Gadol, it is fitting that he offer a special korban every day, similar to the Tamid offered every day on behalf of the public. In terms of divine service: The Kohen Gadol represents the level of Yechidah of the entire Jewish people. Similarly, there is the Yechidah within every Jew, which constantly affects a Jew throughout the entire day. But the Yechidah exists in a manner of makif, and for it to be internalized, it must expressed in the details etc., as the parashah goes on to describe: “This is the law of the Chatas”; “This is the law of the Asham” etc.
