הוצע לאחרונה לאחד את כל בנ"י עי"ז שכולם ילמדו ענין אחד בתורה, ובזה גופא – דבר השווה לכל, שזהו הענין דהלכות פסוקות – לימוד ספר הלכות – ספר היד להרמב"ם, שענינו "הלכות הלכות" ללא טעמי ההלכות (שבלימוד הטעמים ישנם חילוקים מן הקצה אל הקצה). ואע"פ שגם השו"ע של ה"בית יוסף" ענינו הלכות פסוקות, הרי לפעמים הובאו ב' דעות בלי לדעת פס"ד ברור, משא"כ בספר היד להרמב"ם. ועי"ז, האחדות בין בנ"י תהי' בענין עיקרי – תורה, וזה מהווה גם הכנה לגאולה האמיתית והשלימה עפ"י מאחז"ל "אין הגלויות מתכנסות אלא בזכות המשניות" – הלכות פסוקות. אופן לימוד הרמב"ם צ"ל לכל לראש להבין את ההלכות כפשוטן, וללמדן על הסדר, ורק אח"כ באופן של "לאפשא לה". ויה"ר שיתוספו אלו שיקבלו על עצמם קביעות עתים – בזמן ובנפש – בלימוד ספר הרמב"ם, ולהשפיע כך עם על אחרים.

It was recently proposed to unite the entire Jewish people through the study of a single part of Torah – something that is equal to all – the Rambam’s Sefer HaYad, a sefer of “individual halachos” without the reasons behind them (because when it comes to the reasons, there are differences between one Jew and another, and from one extreme to the other). This way, the Jewish people will be united in something fundamental – Torah – and this also serves as a preparation for the true and complete Redemption, as our Sages taught, “The exiles will be gathered only in the merit of the Mishnayos” (i.e., halachic rulings). Rambam should be studied first and foremost in such a way as to understand the plain meaning of the halachos, and in order; only afterwards should one study it in a manner of “increasing in it.” May it be Hashem’s will that more people join in accepting this upon themselves, to set fixed times – fixed in time and fixed in the soul – for the study of Rambam, and to influence others to do the same.

The final halacha in Rambam states: “In that era (meaning the world and the boundaries of the time and space will still exist, but they will be permeated with the revelation of the days of Moshiach) there will be neither hunger nor war (not even spiritual hunger or thirst, nor wars of holiness), neither envy nor competition (not even envy of holiness, which is a novelty because we know that in the future, “each one will be burned by the canopy of his fellow,” which seemingly relates to envy of holiness), for good will flow in abundance and all the delights will be freely available as dust (abundant good and delights in both physical and spiritual matters). The occupation of the entire world will be solely to know Hashem (although there will still be a “world,” meaning concealment and hiddenness, which is why there will be a need for “occupation” and commerce, nevertheless the only pursuit will be knowledge of Hashem). Therefore, the Jews will be great sages (because they will be free to focus on the Torah and its wisdom, and they will receive the reward for their service during the time of exile) and know the (most) hidden matters, grasping the knowledge of their Creator according to the full extent of human potential (the level of the world of Beriah will be grasped by “man,” because man emulates the Supernal Man) as the verse states: ‘The world will be filled with the knowledge of Hashem (and the Rambam adds the end of the verse, unlike in the Laws of Teshuvah) as the waters cover the ocean bed’ (total bitul).”

איתא במשנה "ארבעה ראשי שנים הם" וט"ו בשבט הוא א' מהם. ומזה מובן שהיום צריכים להתבונן – בנוסף להענין המיוחד ד"ראש השנה לאילן" – גם בהענין ד"ראש-השנה" שזהו הצד השווה שביניהם. תוכן ענין ה"ראש" הוא שהוא כולל את החיות של האיברים, וגם הוא המנהיג וה"מלך" על כל האיברים – גם כפי שכל א' מהם הוא במקומו. כמבואר בדא"ח בקשר לראש השנה (א' בתשרי). וזה קשור גם עם זה שבר"ה הוא הזמן ד"תמליכוני עליכם". ובנוגע לר"ה לאילן: איתא בגמ' עה"פ "כי האדם עץ השדה" שזה קאי על ת"ח, ובעצם – כל יהודי הוא "אות" וחלק בתורה, ובמילא "תופס בכולו" – הוא כל התורה. ומזה מובן שבר"ה לאילן הוא הזמן לקבל החלטות טובות על כל השנה להתקשר לתורה ביתר שאת ויתר עז, ולגדול בזה מיום ליום, שזהו הסימן של "צומח" ו"אילן" וכו'. וזה קשור במיוחד עם פ' יתרו (שקורין השבוע), פ' מתן תורה וכו'.

The Mishnah states: “There are four Rosh Hashanas,” one of which is the 15th of Shevat. Since all four are called “Rosh Hashana,” it is understood that they all share the central theme of being a “Rosh Hashana,” a “Head of the year,” and therefore, 15 Shevat is a time a time to reflect not only on the specific theme of the Rosh Hashanah for trees, but also on the concept of Rosh Hashanah in general: The function of the head is that it contains the life-force of all the limbs, and serves as the leader and “king” of the entire body (as also explained in Chassidus in connection with Rosh Hashanah (1 Tishrei), when the Jewish people crown Hashem as King). Regarding the Rosh Hashanah for trees: The Gemara says that the verse “Man is a tree of the field” refers to Torah scholars. And the truth is that because every Jew is a “letter” in the Torah, and “When you grasp part of something’s essence, you grasp its entirety,” every Jew is the entire Torah. From this it is understood that the Rosh Hashanah for trees is a time to take upon oneself positive resolutions for the entire year, to strengthen one’s connection with Torah and to grow from day to day (which is the defining trait of plant-life and trees etc.). This relates particularly to parashas Yisro, in which we read about Matan Torah etc.
