"I didn't believe in ghosts. Until I met him."

As a horror novelist, Ben makes a living telling scary stories. However, he's struggling in his career and fears he's lost his touch. Not only is there a disconnect in his writing, but in his personal life, as well. After his relationship goes south, he decides to start over and moves to Ivy Grove, a small town with a lot of history.

He hopes the quaint town and beautiful Victorian manor he moved into will spark inspiration and help him fall back in love with writing.

And then, strange things start happening.

Creaks in the hall, shadows from the corner of his eye, and the sense that he's being watched. Ben soon learns that the manor has a dark past, and within the morbid history, he discovers a century-old mystery.

Who is Theo Blackwell? And what happened to him all those years ago? As Ben begins to unravel the truth, he finds himself not only falling in love with writing again, but also falling for the stunning young man who haunts his manor.

The Ghost of Ellwood is a paranormal m/m romance. You'll find mystery, a somewhat grumpy writer, a sassy ghost, and of course, a HEA.

I don’t know what I expected but this book went far beyond it.
Great story and amazing characters.
And the most perfect narrator.

Absolutely amazing

Overall I liked the book, listened to it in one day. The story was entertaining and kept me engaged. The glimpses into the past were done well.

My issues with the writing was that it's mostly telling, not showing, especially in regards to emotions. The only way we know that Ben is in love is because he tells us in a sudden epiphany. I didn't much like Ben anyways, he apologised to people several times for being a dick, yet never seemed to change his behaviour.

Also, I found it strange that Theo would diminish his love for Harvey by telling how much more he feels for Ben now, that seemed a bit strange and quite unnecessary. Also, since Ben isn't the nicest person around, Theo at the end saying he's in love with his beautiful soul rang a bit hollow.

Entertaining but not without issues

I first read this story a few weeks ago and was bawled through pieces of it so when I saw it was available on audio, I had to grab it.
Christian does an AMAZING job at bringing these two to life. The way he speaks and his tone? It was perfect.
This audio will definitely be one I re-listen to over and over.

Beautiful

Wow... wow! I have to confess I sort of had a difficult time motivating myself to listen to this one, because the premise struck me as being interesting but very easy to mess up. But man, was I surprised at how much Jaclyn Osborn absolutely nailed it! Very highly recommended. The narrator was great too; I would have been ok with a different voice for Theo, honestly, but altogether there just isn't much to complain about. What an excellent experience!

Unexpectedly fantastic

Second time listening and this book still catches my emotions up in a story of love that transcends despair, loneliness, even death.
A gorgeous story and narrated beautifully by CJ Gilliland.
Thank you Jaclyn Osborn. Will be searching for more of your work.
