Not another cliffhanger!😱

This was amazing!!
Everything thing about this story called to me.
I definitely did get Gossip Girl vibes from this but the storyline was unique, refreshing and oh so engaging.

The narration was enjoyable and compelling.
The cliffhanger though definitely took me by surprise.

I'll definitely be listening to book 2 as soon as I can get my hands on it.

I loved this book. The narration was perfect. The characters were awesome and I loved how the author gave us an insight into their character and personality and why they are who they are. You must listen to this book it's one of the best bully romances I have ever listened to. Now on to book 2 thank goodness it's already on Audible

A Must Read/Listen

The Golden Boys by Rachel Jonas and Nikki Thorne is a dark high school bully romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Neill Thorne, Lessa Lamb, and Sarah Puckett.

This is the first book of Rachel and Nikki's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I was hooked from the very beginning. I loved that the book kept me on my toes. The back and forth between Blue and West is so hot and twisted!

The book does end on a cliffhanger but that wasn't much of a surprise since its the first book in the series. I can't wait for the next book to be released on audio so I can get more of Blue and West...and well of course Dane and Sterling.

The narration was PERFECT! Sarah's voice was perfect for Pandora. It was exactly how I pictured the character when I had read the book. Lessa did an amazing job bringing Blue to life. I loved how Neill brought all the golden boys to life with different tones/voices.


I would highly recommend this book if you like bully romances, dark romances, or contemporary romances. This is a MUST READ series!

why?! maybe light spoiler ahead...

I don't know why I even read or listen to these bully romances. not a lot because every time i do i hate the male lead so much. I've been bullied. I've been bullied by really great looking guys. even ones i had crushes on. before being bullied. once you grow up just a little bit you hopefully realize yoi don't want to be with a freaking jerk! no matter how hot.

seriously. that whole boyswill be boys schtick is over. stop giving boys the ok to be abusive. stop making it an excuse for girls to let boys be abusive.

all that aside the writings good. it's a good read. but here's th problem. the boy bully's *reason* for instantly hating the female lead and his justification for treating her like garbage and bullying her has serious flaws. 1. he even acknowledges from the start she may not evwn know she is guilty of doing what he *thinks* she may have done but he can't attack the party he KNOWS is fuilty so hell just attack this girl instead. 2. he does know that if he is right then she was an under age girl being victimized by an older powerful man. but never gives that a moment's pause or reflection.

Why? because he's a selfish little jerk. and then the whole treat her like garbage then send mixed signals and get her vulnerable then attack then back and forth game... it's just... not at all romantic. even I'd he suddenly became Prince charming and apologized sincerely...i have so much trouble maintaining any respect for a girl that would go back to him for a happily ever after. let him apologize. ok. move on. but taking him back... no. a bad person is a bad person. and sometimes it's more awesome tell the bully they're forgiven but it's too little too late and find a nice guy. ugh.

Teen drama on an Adult level

This book started out slow but ended with a bang! I wasn't expecting some of the crazy family drama of West Golden and his evil father. The dynamics of his family is tense and dysfunctional and it bleeds into everything about him. It drives him in both positive and negative ways. Unfortunately for Blue the book's heroine is effect is negative towards her because he has used it as his reason to target the new student at Cypress Press where he and his brothers rule the school.

In many ways this is the typical high school bully romance in that their physical attraction to each other is so hard to resist even though they both hate and target each other. But then that's what makes it fun 🤷🏾‍♀️ It is part of this trope so eye rolls 🙄 commence as they are drawn like magnets to each other physically with hard to fight lust as they stare daggers at each other.

Well of course that leads to some really awful stuff that... Nope cliffhanger wait until book 2 and I will tell you 😁

Good news it's worth the wait.
