The Unflinching Truth

JM Boice is a remarkable expositor. Judging by this Volume, he stands with the humble giants. I liked his unfliching approach to what many Christians find to be one of the most difficult and uncomfortable parts of the Bible. Having been exposed to other greats like D Martyn Lloyd-Jones (someone Boice often quotes and refers to), I found this first volume to be compelling listening. It is not often that I rewind a few times to listen to something I heard clearly the first time around, but I did that often. His commentary is also very personal; I felt he was speaking to *me* when repeatedly asking the question, when you die and God asks you, on what do you base (or claim) the right of entry to My Kingdom? There are few who can tell hard truths in a gentle, compassionate, but insistent manner. Dr Boice was such a man. I'm profoundly grateful for having had the privilege of listening to this book. I have a feeling this was only the first of several such "return visits" to this book.

Wonderful insight.

The author is a great communicator and so knowledgeable. He also quotes many other authors and brings in bits of historical interest. I’ve listened to this several times through and seems each time i pick up something I had not caught before.

Great audio of a great commentary on Romans 1-4!

I have heard a lot about James Montgomery Boice (JMB) and his commentary to Romans. Sadly, because of time, it’s been hard to read his commentary. So, when I saw that it was available in Audible, I was glad. I’ve been listening to it whenever I can.

JMB is a scholar! He is very learned in God’s Word and perceptive in God’s truth. I was edified in the knowledge of God and grew to love His Son, Jesus, and the salvation that we have through faith in Him.

This book was wonderful to say the least. I was amazed concerning the commentary and how much history he brought out regarding the heroes of days passed and how it brought Romans to life. I will get his next three volumes to finish out the series. No doubt about it! If you’ve never read anything by Mr, Boice do it now! You won’t regret it. The narrator,John Lescault did an exceptional job. The narrator can make or break a good book. I’ve never heard him before and was thoroughly pleased by his reading style. I loved it.
