Being rescued by a hot lumberjack after catching his fiancé cheating was the only good thing to happen to Beau for quite some time.

Getting stuck in the man’s cabin for the weekend? There were definitely worse ways to pass a few days.

Falling for him when the guy made it clear he didn’t do relationships? Well, Beau just wouldn’t do that...probably.

Out in the Cold is a 25,000-word novella with a 39-year-old furniture maker who is done with disappointing relationships, a 25-year-old accountant with terrible taste in fiancés, a remote cabin in the woods during a snowstorm, and a rescue dog with more sense than his owner.

I can't believe this is a short story because it didn't seem that way after I finished listening to it. I listened to Laying Pipe, which is Book 1 of the series first. I loved that story, so I was excited to listen to this one! They are stand-alones, so you can listen to them in any order.

I loved Beau. He was so relatable because he lacks confidence and is a little "boring". The worst day ends up being the best day when he has to stop driving because of a snowstorm. Forced proximity is one of my favorite tropes, and it is done well here. Even though it's a short story, Beau and Coop get their HEA. The narrator did a good job. Each character had a distinct voice, and I knew who was talking. I hope we get another story in this wonderful series! Beau's dad is an interesting character.

Fantastic Novella

Beau and Coop are such opposites who fall in love during a snowed-in weekend in Coop's cabin. And the little peeks of a Michigan life just puts sprinkles on top!

Loving the adorable awkwardness!

For a novella, Out in the Cold, has all the feels of a full length book. Beau is adorably sweet and awkward. He just needs to gain confidence from a strong loving man like Coop. The narration was wonderful. Michael Dean was able to capture each guy’s personality. So, overall fantastic!

All the Feels

Poor Beau was having the most horrible day when he finds a random cabin to stop at as it's a white out and he can't continue to drive. Inside this cabin is the man he has needed his whole life.

This is instalove and instasexytimes on steroids. Coop does make Beau leave with the command to come back to him in a month if he still feels the same. Of course Beau texts him and then spends a month getting to know him over the phone. Then he packs up his life and gets his HFN.

Michael Dean narrates this fine, though the voices were sometimes inconsistent but not enough to take one out of the story.

Oh Beau...

Wow!! Smoking hot short story. Kiki Clark has an awesome mind for MM romance. Terrific 💯 spot on. Michael Dean as always delivered the best and hottest narration. From cheating to break up and ending with the perfect HEA. This is the best 2 hours and 45 minutes I have listened to in a while. Well worth the credit and your time to listen
