This book was interesting and different. I am not sure I was surprised by the outcome and it was easy to figure out, yet, it did keep my attention. I give it a five rating but the ending was scaled down as far as the rest of the book went. I will say the performance was excellent.

I loved how the story was told in two perspectives side by side. The intensity grew and grew, keeping my attention all throughout - until the end, then it just kind of faded out quickly. I think I was waiting for a big plot twist to end the crescendo of events, and it didn't come, though it did close the story line conclusively and satisfactorily. The story up until the end though, was a 5 star, exceptionally dramatic and exciting. Narrator was a good fit. Her voice added to the "psycho" feel of mystery and build up of events,

So very close to a 5 star listen

I liked this story. It was good but the bar for S Pekkanen is so high bc of her other novels (with Greer Hendricks). The Wife Between Us, The Golden Couple, An Anonymous Girl are all so good and twisting and interesting. This one didn’t grab me like those.

Great story. Many twists and turns that kept me thinking, “how’s the author going to resolve this twist?” In the end, I truly liked how the story progressed. The only part I had a problem with was that for two women trying to make ends meet they rarely had to go to work!

The storyline here immediately engaged me, and I thought that I had discovered a hidden gem. Unfortunately, the last 3 hours of the book dragged on and on and on, leaving me with the impression that the author was paid by the page count.
