This Book Needs Your Support!! IT IS THAT GOOD.

The movie "THE GREAT AWAKENING" inspired me to buy this book. One does not have to do with the other. It just so happens a move was made about George Whitefield and Ben Franklin's relationship. REALLY ENJOYED THE BOOK AND THE AUDIBLE BOOK. What is great is this book is well researched. MANY FOOTNOTES IN THE BACK. I do enjoy the TIMELINE in the Appendix.

The author does a great job getting the reader to understand the synergy of the two men. The importance their relationship had on our nation.

WELL DONE. Please buy the book and/or the audible book. According to amazon the book is out of print. According to the author he has several copies. GET THE BOOK A RE-PRINT. It is that good and IMPORTANT.

A powerful look at the lives of Benjamin Franklin, and George Whitefield, and how their partnership fueled the Great Awakening that moved through the American colonies in the decades before the American Revolution. Highly recommended! Grade: A

Missed opportunities

The narration is jerky to the point of distraction, with sketchy pronunciation of British place names and some of the rarer vocabulary words used by the author. The book itself was like a high school student's compare and contrast paper. Wherever there was an opportunity for the author to show the story of Franklin and Whitfield instead of just telling about it, he bypassed it in favor of analysis and speculation. As someone who loves history in large part for the narrative potential it holds, I was extremely disappointed in this book.

The relationship between Whitfield and Franklin is very intriguing

While the concept and content has such incredible potential to be an interesting book, the author often interjects the story with their own opinion. The book is less of a narrative and more of a compare and contrast style.
It seems like the author did a lot of research and has a lot of interesting thoughts. The writing style is not super high quality.
