Spicy and Dramatic!

Most of this is based on my memory, so please take this review with a grain of salt. I may get some details incorrect.

I listened to the audiobook during my closing shifts at work. It provided a great distraction of sorts to help me forget about the many stressful workdays.

I enjoyed Ebony Ford's narration of the audiobook. She made the characters sound distinct and gave each one their own unique personality.

I love Layne; she's determined and career-focused. She's also spunky and stubborn, traits that I also share. Tina, her best friend, was also a character liked. I loved how supportive she was and her optimistic energy made me smile while listening.

I liked Paul at first up until he broke up with Layne and stole her dream job. I do wish that he could've shown some initial support to Layne when she decided to move in order to land her dream job as a news anchor. He really irritated me. Thankfully, he does redeem himself towards the climax and ending. Although, I did feel bad for him when he was getting harassed by his boss. Diane(?). It was satisfying when Layne and Paul teamed up to expose her on-air. And the later wedding scene made me really happy.

Like, another reviewer said, the book is very black, which I liked. Greater emphasized from the audiobook and the narrator's cadence for each character.

If you're not into explicit, spicy romance then you may not like this book. I usually don't care for spicy scenes, but I feel like they were interwoven well into the story and I could feel the characters' passion.
