Publisher's summary

Returning to her hometown was not in the plans, and neither was falling for her former best friend....

Briyana Hayes can’t seem to catch a break.

The job offer she expected after taking an unpaid internship at a major shoe company didn’t come through. The friend who’d offered her a place to stay suddenly gave her 48 hours to vacate after a misunderstanding. And when she’s forced to move back to her hometown to live with her father and his mistress-turned-wife, it almost seems impossible for things to get any worse...until she runs into her former best friend, who’s only gotten fine with time.

With his sixth season as the starting linebacker for his hometown Houston Skyhawks on the horizon, the only thing Lance Hawkins is looking forward to is another year of getting paid and chasing accolades. But when he discovers that the girl he once considered his best friend is back in the city, he quickly finds himself intrigued by a different kind of pursuit after seeing how attractive she’s gotten.

Even with the fallout of the past, their undeniable chemistry as friends makes it impossible for the two of them to remain distant. And once romantic feelings get involved, it doesn’t take long for Briyana and Lance to find themselves on a journey of not only reestablishing what once was, but also exploring what could be.

Petitioning for a follow up !

This was such a great story. As always Alexandra Warren delivered. I find that her stories typically employ all aspects of emotions. The use of comical relief to expose and enlighten the main characters is always perfect balance . I have yet to listen or read a book from Alexandra Warren I didn’t enjoy. This book deserves a follow up. We need to visit them in future to see where they land!

Loved it

A little young, a bit predictable but sweet and heartfelt. The main characters are well rounded and the supporting leaves you wanting to know more.

Amazing love story

I love the storyline and the characters. Since I’m a football fan I enjoyed the football stories as well. The narrators did an amazing job and made it realistic. Highly recommend

Follow up sequel is needed to complete the story

I know book 2 follows the story of Snoop and his s/o but can we please get a sequel to Lance and Bri’s story? I really like these characters but I feel like a lot of the conflict and issues mentioned went unaddressed. Yani’s explanation as to why she went ghost on Lance was very vague and didn’t detail the actual problems she faced. I still don’t understand why she ultimately chose Oregon over LSU nor her not wanting to see the “same faces” she went to high school w/ on a college campus. Yani seems to reference something occurring (her parents divorce?) which influenced her decision but again, a reason was never explicitly stated to the readers or Lance. Yani also didn’t explain why her said eagerness to be away from home had to include dropping her best friend like he was no one to her. Most people wouldn’t jump to such bold actions without a justified reason and it didn’t seem as if Yani really had one *besides jealousy* (hence, her avoiding Lance all these years and the bitterness she projected onto him after seeing him again for the first time in years) Alexandra tries justify Yani’s actions but to me, Yani comes off very childish and selfish, even if it’s not her intentions to be so. Yani needs/needed a lot more character growth and I hope us as readers able to see this play out in a follow up story. A sequel will also provide insight on how Yani and Lance’s relationship is affected by their distance from each other. I can only imagine the pressure on these two to maintain their engagement while being a thousand miles apart. Are they going to remain a long distance couple? I can’t see either one of them wanting to give up their careers, especially since Yani finally got hired in her dream position and Lance signed a major extension with the Skyhawks. Alexandra, please give us readers another book, we need to see what ends up happening to these two!
