The Missing Piece to Excellent Patient Care

With the widespread implementation of Electronic Health Record (EHR) and the subsequent switch from quantity of patients physicians see to quality of patients in healthcare, physicians have experienced burnout. There is also a great need for assistance with both overall documentation and review of quality or preventative measures. This assistance can best be served by adding personnel trained in the art of virtual medical informatics to healthcare teams worldwide.

This book covers all areas/topics in the field of medical informatics. This information can be used to train more virtual medical informaticians so that provider-led teams can function more effectively. After all, more effective medical teams mean better care for patients, and that is the ultimate goal of providers.

Not really informatics

I'm a second year clinical informatics fellow, and I can say that unfortunately this isn't really informatics. The beginning is well worded, but the content itself is self evident and pretty much useless, with statements such as ” a doctor that spends much time looking at the computer screen may be perceived as less favorable by the patient”. Then it strayed away from the topic of informatics altogether, and instead started to list preventative measures, or going into great detail about the structure of a SOAP note, and in a manner that felt more directed to medical scribes. It felt as if it wasn't even reviewed as an audiobook, since there was for example "See diagram below for more information". Another part sounded overly robotic like some table was just copy-pasted into a voice generator. For the authors, I recommend starting over, and taking from the curricula of authoritative informatics organizations like AMIA.
