About this listen

It’s hard to resist the past in this steamy, dark hockey romance—an Amazon Top 10 Bestseller from USA Today-bestselling author C.R. Jane.

Blake moved to L.A. for a fresh start and to make it big. Now she’s waiting tables while her dreams of becoming a model hover just out of reach. She already has her hands full . . . and then her past walks into the room and changes everything.

“What’s your name, sunshine?”

At first Blake doesn’t recognize him, but the gorgeous six-foot-four, tattooed pro-hockey player is Ari Lancaster—her first ever crush, the one who got her through the worst time in her life. He’s all grown up now, with an unshakeable confidence and the ability to turn her inside out with a single kiss. And he has no intention of letting her go again.

Blake knows she should resist, but each time Ari’s overwhelming intensity is focused on her, all her best intentions go out the window. There’s no denying they’re playing in different leagues, but it’s only a matter of time before Blake starts to wonder if the completely wrong guy she’s falling for . . . is actually the right one.

Duet narration 🙌🏼🤩

Alright, let me introduce you to Ari, a character who takes "over-the-top" to a whole new level. This might not be everyone's preferred type of story, but hey, we're diving into a world of fictional men here – men who become absolutely fixated on their significant others and are willing to go to extreme lengths to win them over and keep them.

Ari's infatuation with Blake was intense, especially considering Blake's personal struggles. But it was the way Ari supported her and lavished her with love that truly warmed my heart. I found myself completely engrossed in their story.

In a nutshell, if you're a fan of dark romance and MMCs who push the boundaries, then this audiobook is an ideal listen for you!

The narration was excellent. This was a duet narration by Troy Duran and Alexis Paige, and I have zero complaints!

my dark romance with one hella of a laugh

4.75/5 star!
"It was a hunger, a need to possess her completely, body and soul. I wanted to envelop her in darkness, where there was no escape from my grasp, and she'd be forever bound to me. She wasn't just everything; she was the only thing, and I'd descend to the depths of madness to ensure she stayed mine."

I loved this book so much! Ari is a totally different kind of deranged than Lincoln, but I was totally there for his golden retriever energy. His cocky attitude and his bromance with Lincoln had me laughing the entire book. Blake's past haunts her throughout this book, and we get to see a peek into her mental health struggles, which gave this book a little more depth as well.
I am a firm believer on the audiobooks for these ones because I love this narration so much. Troy did such an amazing job delivering all the bromance jokes and giving one hella of a cocky attitude to Ari's golden retriever personality. Alexis delivered Blake's trauma win finesse and heart felt emotions that felt real and raw. I laughed and swooned so hard over these two. This is totally different type of unhinged than I've ever read before, and I love this take on a stalker.

Ari stalker and swooner

Another phenomenal book by C.R. Jane.
I thought I liked Ari in book 1, but now I’m in love with him!
Who doesn’t want a hockey player to ask to be traded just to find you.
He has loved Blake(Layla) since they were kids and now that he has found her he won’t stop till she is his.
Blake and Ari are hot together, there is so much chemistry.
The friendship banter between Ari and Lincoln was even better in book 2, I laughed so hard “…”

I read and listened to the audiobook.
Troy Duran and Alexis Paige did another phenomenal job with book 2.
Alexis again nailed the emotion from Blake’s past and the struggles she had on a daily. Troy did a wonderful job with Ari and Lincoln.

I loved this book and audiobook, well worth the read and listen.

Oh my boy Troy

Thank you Ms. Jane for giving us not just one but two wonderfully morally gray stories, in which the gorgeous voice of Troy soaked our undies with his Good Girls and Feral growls.

IN LOVE

Ari is hilarious … not to mention I love how they met.
How he always wanted her and what he’d do to have her.
Blake has so many things internal that we as women all tend to go through so relatable on that side. If only everyone was so lucky to have a hot possessive man to help build them up!

LOVED AND CANNOT WAIT FOR DISNEYS BOOK!

The heroine: Layla (a.k.a. Blake) - she lost her parents as a child and was put into a group home. She just found out she got her dream job in L.A. though she hadn’t expected to get the job, so she never told her boyfriend Clark that she applied. Layla is a model but is an introvert with social anxiety and a bunch of insecurities when it came to going out with Clark and his crowd. She stayed with him because she was afraid of being alone but had hesitated to move in with him. She loved her small apartment and her eclectic mix of things that were hers alone.

The Hero: Ari Lancaster - Star defenseman and Stanley Cup champion with the Dallas Knights, Ari Lancaster just asked to be traded to Los Angeles for a year. He wanted to get his dream girl then go back to Dallas to live his dream life. He was going after Layla, though she no longer remembered him. He never forgot her and one day in Dallas when he saw her on a billboard, he knew he had to find her and go after her.

The Story: Layla and Ari met in the group home when they were kids. He helped her and was her light in a dark world. Though after a few months she was adopted by a wealthy family and left Ari behind. Her adoptive parents were meticulous and stringent and demanded perfection which she never felt she could live up to. Any imperfection was met with disappointment which was a burden that always weighed on Layla.

I have been really liking this series so far. I read the first and third books, actually listened to and they have been fantastic. Both a bit dark yet with hilariously funny parts. I absolutely loved Ari in those two books, so I was looking forward to this one. In both the other two, the Hero’s have been so normal, but also a bit psycho with their obsessions with their girls so I couldn’t help but love them even though they did some terrible things. Ari was no different, and this story was every bit as good as the other two. I hope Camden’s book comes out on audiobook soon as I really love this series.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via duet narration and was narrated by Troy Duran and Alexis Paige. Troy always does a terrific job. He has a very deep voice, and he is great at showing emotion through his voice and doing all sorts of different voices for different characters. Alexis Paige sounds youthful, with a soft and feminine voice that I really enjoyed.

I absolutely love and adore Ari!!

I think Ari is my favorite!! He is so funny, cute, intense, and the whole package! I haven’t laughed so much with an audio book in quite some time. The narrators are perfect in bringing these characters alive! I liked Blake because she could be anyone…so many people have the same issues with self worth and others tearing us down. We need an Ari in our lives to tell us every day that we are perfect. And Ari has his own Mr Miagi in Lincoln…hehehe. I laughed when he kept calling him for unhinged stalker advice. I can’t wait for Disney. The shake it off tradition made me giggle and the circle of trust, Ari and Linc teased that poor boy too much! I think we are going to just fall in love with him more.

Not your normal romance story

A unique story approach with both characters dealing with issues and past experiences. Hot sexy and love.
