This is the third and apparently NOT final book in a trilogy that I truly was a little nervous to read. Why, you ask? Well, I absolutely LOVED the first book - then the second book came out and to say that it was a disappointment would be a massive understatement. So, I had absolutely NO idea what to expect with the third and final (I thought) book. I was HOPING that it was going to be more like Book 1, but then in the same breath, I was afraid it wouldn't be.

I'm happy to say that it was kind of in the middle, but with the actual book skewing more towards the good side. Part of what I had a problem with in Book 2 was the fact that this wonderfully written storyline had moved from a complex plotline with enourmously well-developed characters, to a basic smut fest of a book. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with smut. In fact, some of my favorite books would probably fall under this category, but this was not one of them. And the fact that this was supposed to be an intense, rich fantasy storyline with magic, evil beings and the fight between good and evil - well, it was unexpected.

Oh, and don't get me started with the very end of book 2 when our FMC throws everything that she KNEW about the MMC away, and doesn't have a second thought about believing that he just all of a sudden became evil and would do ANY of the things he was accused of, AND that he would betray her in that manner. It was just such a crazy blow from left field and the fact that she bought it hook line and sinker without a second thought....yeah, that was a major problem.....

I'm happy to say that book 3 went a long way towards redeeming itself. I still think that it fell flat when compared to Book 1, but it was MUCH, much better than the second book.

In this book, we finally get to the heart of the matter. Questions that have been floating around since the beginning of our story are finally, FINALLY being answered. Without going into spoilers, let's just say that some of the major questions that I was really confused about began to make sense. I felt like this book finally began to bring in all of the characters that we spent the first couple of books getting to know and determining WHERE they were going to be the most useful in the coming fight. And yep, there were a couple of surprises too.

All in all, it went a fairly long way towards redeeming itself and even though I apparently was the only person in the world who thought it was going to be the third and concluding book, I am still on board for whatever is going to happen in the future. Honestly, I don't even know if there is going to be one more book, or five more .....but that's okay. I'll just be pleasantly surprised either way.....

So, this is NOT the last book....

This is addicting you will want to know more you will feel invested, enchanted, trapped… sleep is 100% unnecessary like coffee will do wonders 🤭. I don’t want to spoil it by saying too much so book one and two where amazing this one is just as good. So much has been revealed and so much is expected to happen. It has steamy scenes 🌶️ and the drama oh and action…The narrators are perfect. Oh and This is so worth a credit.

The female narrator was an excellent choice for the FMC, but I found the man’s take on the MMC’s so cheesy it often made me physically cringe. He sounded a bit like a freshman boy trying to play Hamlet on stage or a dad doing the big bad wolf voice while reading to his kid.

Story was quite good I thought, if not quite as gripping as the previous one perhaps. It’s also hard for any author to maintain romantic/sexual tension between two characters for so long without it getting occasionally repetitive.

Good story, good lady voice, cringey guy voice

The emotional turmoil of this book will have you in a chokehold. Wilder has supposedly betrayed the kingdoms, his warrior brothers, and most of all Thea. She is determined to bring him to justice no matter the cost. Their journey is anything but smooth, but with the help of friends and family, the truth comes to light. This book has been my favorite so far. Thea is growing into the warrior she has always wanted to be, while Wilder finds ways to support her throughout. This book is setting the series up for a very epic and intense final installment to the series.

This is how you do a redemption arc for a couple
