AN EXPANSIVE NEW STANDALONE THRILLER IN MICHAEL C. GRUMLEY’S REVIVAL SERIES, EXPLORING HUMANITY’S THIRST FOR IMMORTALITY AT ANY COST.
Technology never works well the first time. Or even the second. Army veteran John Reiff is living proof.
John is revived in the back of a dilapidated ambulance, on the run from a shadowy organization that is desperate to take him back. He is the first one, their archetype, and they need to know what happened after his escape. What is happening to his body and his mind. And they need to know now.
Because Reiff knows things he shouldn’t. About them and about what they are hiding. A secret that has been in cold storage for several hundred years. And the insidious, methodical plan that has been in motion for half a century.
John Reiff is their key—a problem and the solution. A lab rat gone rogue at the worst possible time. But they will find him. They have to. And they will stop at nothing to get what they want.
A Macmillan Audio production from Tor Forge.

Praise for the Revival Series
“A propelling story that seizes the reader from the opening and doesn’t let go until the last shocking sentence. John Reiff, revived from the dead, is given a second chance at life, only to realize that something is very, very wrong… and he embarks on a quest to find the truth. A truly gripping read—I highly recommend it.”
—Douglas Preston, #1 New York Times bestselling co-author of the Pendergast series
“A fast-paced juggernaut of a story, where revelations pile upon revelations, building to a stunning conclusion that will leave readers clamoring for more. It has everything I love in a story: fascinating scientific speculation, hellbent action, and characters you’ll be rooting for with every turn of the page. Not to be missed!”
—James Rollins, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Sigma Force series
“Sophisticated and razor-sharp, this one is loaded with plenty of nuance and dire exploits that will definitely get you thinking.”
—Steve Berry, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Cotton Malone series
“A breathtaking awakening from the dead and a new world of horrors will grip you by the throat in this truly chilling thriller.”
—Dirk Cussler, #1 New York Times bestselling co-author of the Dirk Pitt series

Scott Brick’s reading is amazing. He brings each of these dynamic characters to life, and brings the reader into the story.

I highly recommend this and every other book written by Michael Crumley to everyone. I do not think that these books would only appeal to fans of science fiction. I think they have a universal appeal and I’m extremely glad I somehow found this author I enjoy so much. I own every one of his books.
With that, the only thing that detracted from the book was the narration. I have listened to a lot of books narrated by Scott Brick. He has a very nice speaking, voice. However, when he’s reading a book with exciting action and secrets being revealed, he has a tendency of emphasizing things the same way over and over again. His voice seems to have the same sense of urgency and excitement all the time. So the pace and the inflection and excitement level of the entire book sounds much the same. Scott has a wonderful voice and I have enjoyed his narration in a lot of books over the years. At this point though I’m hearing the same tone, pace, and excitement level all the time. So it doesn’t have the kind of impact that it could.
Hope my review convinced you to try this and others from this author. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
