I’ve read and listened to quite a few Becca Steele books this week. Reckless is my now favorite. Theo and Jordan made me feel all the feels. Highly recommend.

"Reckless" seemed to me to have echoes of Steele's 5+ star hit (IMO) "Savage Rivals" but it was still different enough and great on it's own thanks in part to a different performer - Tom North instead of James Joseph. I love Will and James together so Tom is new to me and he took some time getting used to but I've decided that I liked his performance. I love that Theo and Jordan truly thought they hated each other in the beginning! I tend to dislike when it's so obvious that the characters are so obviously in love with each other before the 1st chapter is finished but are just going thru the motions to make it appear like an "enemies-to-lovers" romance...poor Reuben! 🙈 lol

A new favorite couple 😍

Count on Becca Steele to write another amazing enemies/rivals to lovers story. Theo and Jordan’s story will be right up there with Levi and Asher and Cole and Huxley—couples whose stories I love to revisit. I’m just sorry it took me so long to get to this one.

Like Levi and Asher, Jordan and Theo are footballers, one from an affluent family and one from a working class family. But in this case Jordan and Theo are professional athletes who have hated each other pretty much since they met at a football academy when they were 13 years old. And now they’re not only playing for the same team but Jordan has been hired to play Theo’s position while Theo has been asked to change positions. This ratchets up their animosity, getting them into trouble and sent to Black Diamond.

Oof! Are these two incendiary together. They literally cannot control themselves around each other—each one compelled to push the other’s buttons. I love how Steele gives subtle hints that they are attracted to each other, even though they can’t see it yet themselves. Once they’re on the island their relationship starts to change and grow. I love how even though it’s fast, it’s believable. Stuck together, they can’t help but see each other in a different way. And when their vulnerabilities start to show, they’re both good enough people to want to reach out and help the other rather than use that to hurt each other. I just love when characters are open and honest and willing to confide in each other.

It’s definitely one of my favorite things when angry enemies end up being just the gooiest of lovesick couples.

Will Watt and Tom North do a lovely job bringing the characters to life.
