What would you risk to save your family?

Former United States Department of Defense contractor Charlie Owens resigned from his position with the government to live a life off-grid. Either this was written by AI or James Hunt is a lady. Every character was super feminine and had the most ridiculous arguments about everything. Should ask for my credit back.

So awful

If AI is going to do the writing…or not, edit more. Decent story line, but definitely needs a stronger edit and the interpersonal relationships and dialogue could use some revamp. And read your own story man. Everyone wants to use this magical device and Charlie keeps shutting them down. The argument prevails chapter after chapter. All he had to do is tell everyone the bunker was capable of hacking every device that was fixed. And on a tactical level, the characters don’t even use basic common sense. If I hadn’t paid money I would have stopped listening one book in or sooner.

Decent Story Line

I like a long listen. I live for a long listen. This listen was awful. I can't decide if I'm more mad at the author for not being consistent with the back story of the characters, the redundancy of phrases, or the fact that the narrator literally can't speak the words she's reading correctly. Posthumous was one of the worst ones she spoke, but there were many others. The bulk of the book made you feel like it happened in a week or less, yet they make reference to months. No one EVER sleeps, eats, uses the bathroom or bathes, yet the basis of the book is that they're fighting for ALL of those things. One part of the series states that the 'new' boy that the mom found was older than the bio son, next parts states he's younger. One part of the series states that the little girl, Maggie, is 3. next part makes its sound like she's 10. One part, the 'new' kids call the main characters Mom & Dad, next part has them as an afterthought. And what the hell ever happened to Peanut Butter? This thing was one hot mess. And the ending . . . I can't. Returning for a credit. As an owner of over 1,000 audiobooks and having only reviewed one or two . . . trust me . . .major editing & recording again is needed. I really need to be mad at myself for slogging through it.

Inconsistent & Narrator Can't Pronunciate

Character development is fair, but dialog is real poor, predictable, and boring. Really annoying was how the little children are treated like experienced adults, and they create childish drama and petulance. I bought two of Hunt's box sets, and I stopped listening to the first one because it was just annoying. Wasted money...
