Wonderful story. Julia Brannan is a fabulous writer and an equally fabulous storyteller. I have loved getting to know Alex (& Duncan and Angus etc etc) in his childhood and youth, prior to Mask of Duplicity and The Jacobite Chronicles. Amazing characters and deep emotional engagement. The narrator’s were all top notch. Historical detail was brilliant as always. I am a Julia Brannan devotee. What a talent!

Not knowing the history of our beloved, Alex, this puts it all in perspective. Brilliantly written and read. Anticipating part 2 coming available on audible .

I’ve listened to all of the books in this series and highly recommend them. The characters are well developed and writing makes you feel as though you are there in history. I’m eagerly awaiting part two of this book. I must also say, the narration by Will Watt is excellent. I can’t imagine anyone doing a better job, he’s really talented.
