Dreams become tales. Tales become history.
Ling Qi's mastery of the realm of Dreams grows, and her strides carry her further daily. Meeting the skeletal echo again in his jail of twisted space has only reinforced that. But her time is not infinite; there is only so much she can Master and learn before the great undertaking she has taken up must bear fruit. The Summit between her home and the foreigners of the Polar Nation looms, and with it, the chance to head off further conflict and prevent the embers of war that have already ignited in the south from growing further.

Amazing.

The actions were mostly spiritual walking and even though they are interesting I just felt it was a very dual tone book, converse with spirits and get enlightenment and play politics with mortals.
Not my favourite book in the series but still well written.
Very heavy on the politics

I really like the parts of the story that touch on human nature, punctuated by some thrilling confrontations. In fact we get some confrontations front loaded in the first half of the book, while on the back half we get more focus on exploring more cerebral concepts. Especially at the end of chapter 30, the arc takes on of a more poetic approach as it delves into Lin Qi's preparations for future endeavors. On top of that is also quite a bit of character development for Lin Qi as she faces some of her inner nightmares (which is a great treat after so many books of watching that facet of her character firmly developed).
In particular, the ending of the book is a wonderful culmination of the progress Lin Qi has made in the series thus far; it's the sort of pay off that rewards you for continuing to follow the series up til now; it's great!
