Few things shape a life more profoundly than the lessons of a father.
William “Bill” Burgess was a larger-than-life personality. This was displayed on football fields across the Southeast, first as a player at Auburn University and later as a championship-winning coach at the high school and collegiate levels. But he was also a father.
His son, New York Times best-selling author and nationally syndicated radio host Rick Burgess, had a front-row seat to this legendary man who had a way with words like few others. Through rich storytelling, Rick Burgess captures his father's many colorful sayings and stories, taking them a step further by cleverly and clearly communicating the spiritual truths behind each one.
“Men Don't Run In the Rain” is a timeless reflection on the kind of man they simply don't make anymore.

The alignment of Coach’s life and Biblical knowledge are Brilliant!!! for men and women. I bought several copies of this book for the next generation in our family. My husband and I have 3 grown daughters and have one son-in-love. He’s definitely getting a copy mostly b/c he is ‘daddy’ to our 3 g’daughters. He has not read other books I’ve given him, tho’ this one I will be pushing. Btw he was a soccer player from age 6 to 21. He tells me he loves the LORD so I’m still hopeful. Another 2 young men are nephews, one on my side and one on my husband’s side. Both of them have sons and played football. I know they will appreciate hearing about coach.
This audible will also be suggested to many of my friends and family. We all need to lift others in many encouraging ways as possible.
Lastly, I cried again hearing about Bronner. I listened to Sherri’s book before this one, and I’ve known the story for years. I also cried hearing about your experience loving your dad during his years w/alzheimer’s. It’s a wicked opponent, and I can completely relate as my ‘bonus’ dad is now living through it as well.
My sister and I were not raised by our ‘dad’ tho’ he came into our lives when we were
19 & 20, in need of a godly-man example.
He remains here at 87 and continues to be worthy or love, respect and honor. I believe Coach & he would have been friends.
