Who knew life after disaster could be so ssssssweet?

Arthur Cain was a hero to his city, the most accomplished and respected of the firefighters in his entire district. But when a call comes in from the so-called "Halfbreed Heights", the monsterfolk part of the city, Arthur's life gets flip-turned upside down.

Though he saved the life of a matronly lamia that day, he was also partially crippled and forced into early retirement. Now unable to fit the image of her personal superman, Arthur's wife divorces him and leaves him to move into a cheaper home in the same monsterfolk slum that caused his current situation.

To satisfy his daughter's anxiety, he reluctantly agrees to take on a caregiver from the monsterfolk-run service, Maid For You. The twist? She's the serpentfolk daughter of the woman whose life he saved. It ends up being the best decision he's ever made.

I thoroughly enjoyed every book in this series, but if I had to pick one, I think the third one is my favorite. I loved how each book features a different set of main characters, yet Virgil ties everything together so well in the end. And the smutty parts of the book are fantastic! Overall, I’d highly recommend these books to anyone who enjoys smutty monsterkin stories.

The character development was genuine and well done for each story. While I, personally, do not care for the romantization of a criminal lifestyle, the story was legitimately believable. Each story stands alone, yet still works as a sequel to the previous story.
Aside from my single complaint about the authors choice about artistic freedom, the series is worth a read, and is emotionally rewarding.
