Detective Sergeant Aaron Fowler of the Metropolitan Police doesn’t count himself a gullible man. When he encounters a graphologist who deduces people’s lives and personalities from their handwriting with impossible accuracy, he needs to find out how the trick is done. Even if that involves spending more time with the intriguing, flirtatious Joel Wildsmith than feels quite safe.

Joel’s not an admirer of the police, but DS Fowler has the most irresistible handwriting he’s ever seen. If the policeman’s tests let him spend time unnerving the handsome copper, why not play along?

But when Joel looks at a powerful man's handwriting and sees a murderer, the policeman and the graphologist are plunged into deadly danger. Their enemy will protect himself at any cost, unless the sparring pair can come together to prove his guilt and save each other.

I actually read this on ebook before it came out on audiobook, then listened to it when I saw Cornell Collins was narrating, because he’s the best. This story is just kind of a bummer, though, because it feels like it’s setting up a much longer and involved mystery and world that gets truncated and solved and wrapped up all too quickly. Idk if Charles is tired of her own tricks (I am not, for what it’s worth), but this felt like the first half of a book instead of a full novel. Wanted so much more.

I love all Charles’ work, and Collins is THEEEE best narrator

Another great work from K.J. Charles. Romance, struggle, mystery, and a satisfying resolution. I liked both main characters here, they are interesting and deeply sympathetic men. And I liked how their relationship was developing. The detective plot was also good, and I enjoyed the ending. Overall, no notes, looking forward to the new stories from the author.

Wonderful as always

KJ Charles upholds a standard of quality that is truly unmatched. This book is engaging from start to finish and is clearly well researched. While a romance, it has a rich setting and touches on themes of the time that resonate in today’s society as well.

I wish I could give this 6 stars! I hope it is part of a series but am not disappointed if it’s a standalone. The romance was on the lighter side compared to others but it still ended with a solid HFN and I believe in this couple for the long haul.

As with most of this author’s books it will likely be a repeat listen. Speaking of listening, I forget how lovely Cornell Collins’ voice is so that was an extra treat.

Perfection

Another lovely historical M/M romance, with a body count! Both main characters feel like real people with their strengths and their flaws. I love how these two balance each other out so well. ❤️💕❤️💕❤️

KJ Charles does it again!

I really enjoyed this novel. Any KJC book with a cop protagonist always ends up in my faves. I just appreciate the drama and dilemma of it. Wonderful narration, great chemistry, fun plot.

Always a delight
