Valessa is in danger. Her town has been captured by Aventinian raiders, the women taken, and now she's on a ship destined for nowhere good. But when a terrifying, four-armed sea-ogre pirate boards the ships and demands compensation, Valessa's luck changes.

The sea-ogre demands a bride. It's the perfect opportunity for her to escape.

Valessa volunteers. She tells everyone she's very experienced with sea-ogres and knows just how to please them. She's very descriptive about it, too.

Thing is...Valessa's a liar.

She's never met a sea-ogre in her life. But it can't be that hard to keep one man-slash-monster happy, can it?

The man’s voice was so perfect for the part and I liked that he didn’t curse but still got his mood across . The story could have been dark but the author wrote it with such an upbeat attitude that I smiled and relaxed while I listened, thank you author for the story.

Lighthearted entertainment

It’s an unusual story, but I listened to it because it’s written by Ruby Dixon and I love her ice planet, clone and Rizda2 books. I had difficulty listening to this story, Unfortunately because the story lagged in many areas and not just where he’s recuperating from his injuries. It just didn’t seem to have the flow like the ice planet, Clone and Risda II books. Those stories were wonderfully written and had a flow that that this story does not provide. Plus, I felt invested in the characters of her earlier books but not in this one. It was actually difficult to have to finish the story. I had to take a break from listening which I rarely do and unless life forces me to do other things. Surprisingly, I did enjoy the Ogre’s communication problem and his huffing noises by his character. Those behaviors were a pleasant inclusion in the story because, it gave his character a realistic, touch. There was just something about her that didn’t sit really well for me. Her character just never felt real. I would not recommend this book to those who loved the Ice Planet stories. I felt like it was such a letdown because I generally love all of Ruby Dixon’s books that I’ve read except for this one and her previous gay female story. There was nothing wrong with the female story. It just didn’t interest me by the way.

I’m a fan of most of Ruby Dixon’s universe. I thought this was going to be some sort of part of aspect and anchor which they do mention some of those parts in there, but had no actual connection. then I thought it would be similar to some of the other stories like the others that had ogres in them. Nope just had a somewhat decent female character that was super insecure due to being a long time slave. It was too lighthearted no actual real issues and the one real issue of feeling unwanted was very shallow and forced. It definitely could’ve been a much better story with a whole lot more world building around the turtles or family or something. Bit of a letdown for me. Even though it took a while for this one to come out, it feels like she ran out of time, and I had to cut all the real feeling out of the book.

Fell flat for me.
