With the upcoming tournament held in The Republic, where Ajax will have to reveal his talents for the first time on an international stage, the dangers have only become greater. Will he be able to stand amongst the powerhouses of the other kingdoms?

Great series

I like the pace of this series as well as the way it holds my attention.

Great even on relistening, but...

I listened to the whole thing up to this point before it was published (Youtube narration channels). Still, even knowing the broad strokes this was worth returning to.

The story is great, and my only complaints come from the repeated stat/skill updates. Whether at the beginning, end, or middle of a chapter they are just as jarring now as they were pre-publish. This is a common issue in the genre but I really do wish they were seperate chapters as most boil down to "MC gained a new skill" or "the thing you just listened about for 20 minutes was rewarding", and the handful of changes is not worth fully listening to his full stat block to hear every time.

I love the thought process behind most of Ajax practices, I would love more dungeon time.

There is only one issue that keeps occurring, the repeated use of "not only that" , I would suggest trying out other adjuncts.

Getting worse

The main character is basically becoming a side character since he just tells everyone everything about him. I don't care about social skills, just keep your mouth shut. He's just spilling all his secrets without gaining anything. I'm honestly not even looking forward to the next books that I'm sure will degrade his worth as the main character even more.

Great book

This is another good book to an even better series. The author does a good job with character, progression, and action that keeps me as a listener involved through the whole story. I can’t wait for the next one.
