Magic. Monsters. War.

A woman's journey to find herself as she discovers secrets of the past.

When thirty-two-year-old Ava Winslow inherits a flower farm from her late grandfather's estate, she's determined to uncover the secrets she knew her family was hiding.

As she draws closer to the truth, the last thing she expects to find is a portal hidden on the property leading to another world. Desperate to learn what her mother never revealed before her death, Ava is thrust into a magical land of fae on the brink of war.

Alone again in a world unfamiliar to her and plagued by the grief that followed her there, she must make a life-altering decision: does she try to find her way back to the farm? Or, does she embrace adventures she only ever dreamt of, and follow a new path that might feel more like home than anywhere ever has?

Overall, I think I enjoyed this audiobook. I do like when there’s a dual narration, although I had a hard time with this one. It didn’t seem like the narrator’s collaborated for characters and when the female narrator would voice a character, it’d be dramatically different than when the male narrator voice to character so that was kind of off putting. The male narration this one was a little too whimsical as well. I think that the writing was slightly juvenile. The characters didn’t seem to have that much depth, and Ava‘s reactions to things weren’t fitting for the scenario. For someone who had been tortured for what we were told was months, but also mentioned it was just weeks m, for her to basically threaten the fae king that she had never met before was pretty unrealistic. I really did like the animal companions. I thought that concept was pretty fun but the miscommunication in this book was staggering. To start with Luna, not communicating with Ava earlier to tell her what was going on and then let’s her get kidnapped by the biggest monsters in the book seemed like just a poor execution to get her into this other world. I probably won’t continue to series.

Short was ok

Can’t wait for the next book to be recorded! I hope they get the same voice actors for the next one

Dual narration worked very well

This was a great story and hooked me from the very beginning. The elements of animals working side by side with the fae was an unexpected exciting twist. I cannot wait to continue the series and see where all the relationships go.

Surprisingly exceptional

I really enjoyed this book as a bridge between the typical dark romances I read. it's definitely not spicy at all, but I heard it gets more spicy as the series goes on.

This book is dual narration, but I wish it was either duet narration or just singular narration. Amnalee Scott did an excellent job with doing all the voices, both male and female. Casey Jones did the voices pretty well, but the narration of the inner thoughts and non-speaking parts was off for me. It sounded like he was surprised to read the sentences and was a little over enthusiastic. I feel Cassimir's POV would be a little more broody and not so cheery.

Oversized though, excellent book! I am on to tye next one!!

Great Story, but narration could use some work.
