Very detailed descriptions of locations

I can’t even finish. The book has very detailed and sometimes repetitive descriptions of the setting. Yet I don’t know anything about the characters. Character development is severely lacking. There’s a a lot of “I do not think. I do not feel.” There are never any feelings or actual conversations that help you get to know the characters. I can’t get even past the halfway mark. It’s so difficult to enjoy a book when it is more descriptive on settings and no description of characters.
