Don't be Distracted. Trust the Quest. Kill your Target.

Teleported somewhere against her will—twice—Claire must come to terms with the escalating challenges of a City grappling with the System and the advantages/disadvantages that can provide. Facing a new cast she is wary to trust, new abilities with no time to test them, and an ever-growing sense that the System's influence is getting too strong, Claire must tackle more than just her inner demons if she hopes to have any chance against the rest of her Targets.

Claire only wants to focus on her Quest, but this city will prove that her current strength won't be enough to handle the Targets that come next.

Not yet, at least.

Dive back into Claire's world, a story with a ton of action, abilities, and interesting characters. More than that, though, dive into a world trying to figure out how to navigate the new normal of a System, a world where a young girl isn't sure where she fits in, and a world where bad people get what's coming to them.

Claire is going to kill them all—come hear how she does it.

So far I have listened to all of Claire's story as soon as they come out. I was impatiently waiting for this book to come out and I can honestly say it was worth the wait. The complexity of her growing powers and her story are so compelling. Tess Irondale's performance as Claire is inspired and J.J. does such a great job bringing the vision to life with his story. I can honestly say from the time I downloaded the book I could barely put it down and had to force myself to go to sleep the first day. I finished the book in two days and that was only because I didnt get it until later in the day the first day. The change in location and the new characters were very compelling. Not to mention the mini backstories for each of the targets. I cannot explain how excited I am to read the next book and I cannot wait to be at Claire's side when she finally gets to Target 100! J.J. thank you for the story and I pray to be listening to the next part of Claire's journey sooner rather than later!

Worth The Wait

I love this story so much! I was worried the series had been abandoned, but this third book has erased those doubts because it lands so well: Tess Irondale is unbelievably immersive, Claire has such an engaging story, she realistically acts and reacts as someone with PTSD, she’s surrounded by just as interesting side characters who have their own motivations and side plots, and there is a fantastic balance between storytelling, action, and this genre’s defining game mechanics.

I feel that too many authors in this genre have forgotten that a story is supposed to tell a story. Don’t get me wrong, I love action and gaming mechanics can be fun, but I’m here for the story: A curse forcing Claire to navigate her ego vs. survival, everyone debating the social dangers of trust and responsibility to community, and a son trying to balance family responsibility vs. self-actualization? Ohhh boy, yeah! This is why I’m here. J.J. Thorn writes deeply, sometimes in background side-plots and other times in one-liners, and I profoundly appreciate it.

Keep it up! Listen to your wife please :D I very much look forward to book 4.

A story driven story, love it! :)
