The war continues to rage on, but events are stirring, and the war will soon begin to take a back seat. For the Fae Tournament shall commence.

A tournament to decide the new ruler of the Fae.

But what all does that title mean? And do the fae have any ulterior motives behind the tournament?

Join Scarlet to find out.

About the series: When a Demonic Assault occurs, most people stuck inside of a Fracture end up hiding inside of a bunker in the hopes that they don’t get killed by a demon. Others might even hope for the slightest possible chance at signing a contract with a spirit and becoming a Guardian. So when Scarlet was caught in a Fracture, the last thing she expected was to become a demon herself. Join her as she learns about her nature as a half demon, grows stronger, and figures out who exactly she is.

The rushed feeling does not give urgency, but gives, I have a lot to get in this book.
Audio performance and overall story is good.

Good but a little rushed.

The author has never once shied away from their main character favoritism but this was mitigated in past books by fun combat and charming interactions. This book though ... eh. The entire book feels very predictable. I found myself struggling to pay attention when the outcome is always easy to figure out. This was especially noticable when the author spent a good five chapters detailing how tower defense works. Also the first half really felt rushed.

I can't help but

For the most part, pretty much exactly what I expected from this book. There isn't really anything to mention other than the fact that it's another book in the same series, that I've been enjoying since I found it. The narrators still do a great job, and honestly seem more comfortable in this book than in previous books.

I only really had one complaint, which is the reason for 4 stars in general and story-wise instead of 5. Without getting into spoilers, there's a character in this book that just annoys me. They aren't written nearly as well as the rest of the characters in all the other books, in basically every aspect you can think of. Most of the problems stem from them only really showing up in the second half of the book (I'm not getting more specific than that) and not having as much screen time to be fleshed out as literally every other character. I hated their existence less by the very end of the book, but I'm still left with a minor feeling of "that could have been done better".

Everything else is fantastic, and, while the series itself may not be a 10/10, I'd say that within the series, this book is a 10/10 in every other sense.

if you made it this far, you'll like this book
