Bizarre

Very bizarre. The story was bizarre. The characters were bizarre. The ending was bizarre and the accents were bizarre.

Over the top slightly crazy but brilliant mystery

Pay no attention to the negative reviews! The plot is ahem, a bit "complicated", but really this falls squarely in the tradition of the greatest mystery writers of the past. I couldn't stop listening, which was acually quite annoying because it monopolized my life for several hours. And the narration. Apparently some Audible listeners just didn't get it, but the narration was BRILLIANT. Fashionistas (of which I am indubitably not one) will revel in the gloriously detailed descriptions. A minor quibble is that people from Illinois (like me) do not speak in a broad Texas drawl, but it really just adds to the fun, (and you should hear my attempt at a British accent) And sure there's some seriously steamy sex, but hey this is the 21st century. Stick to Agatha Christie if this is an issue for you. The writing is vivid and clever, and sprinked with real wit; the main character's dead-pan sarcasm is endearing, and like I said. I couldn't put it down. And. It is a real thriller. The final section of the book will have you on the edge of your proverbial seat. For those complaining that the book cuts off in midstream, all I can say is mine was absolutely completely finished including an epilogue so I got nothing else to say but maybe you should try downloading it again? Highly recommended this is a a hidden gem.

the story itself is an interesting in-between of fashion and a mystery. the main problem is that both parts feel incomplete. It makes you wonder if the story is finished.


because of how it ended, the flashbacks seemed much more like the chapters were in the wrong order. 2/3rds through it would have been a good ending, then it went back in time and ended when you expected it to return to the present storyline. especially since it wasn't the first flashback so instead it feels like it wasn't finished.

The American accent was so poor and nothing like what he would sound from I. You gave him a southern idiot voice and it sis not benefit the show…. Dumbing down is not what anyone wants

A Good Story Line

This audio book kept the listener’s attention. The readers were very good which makes a big difference for the listener.
