Good story but a lot of angst and internal monologue

I liked the story but the internal monologues were just way too long. Some things didn’t quite make sense, sometimes there were millions of people other times only 4000 plus children then later there were only 6 pairs of mated people in the whole population who could have children.

I never got a sense of what the H looked like except for the cover of the book. He was big and grey and had no hair but that’s about it.

All of the angst over leaving or staying was kind of dumb. They would both drop dead within 6 days if separated. There were a few non logical choices floating around.

Later in the book I started jumping through internal monologue. Drives me nuts when the action is going and we’re stuck listening to a 10 min monologue about something that is actually taking seconds.

I liked it enough to finish the book.
