—#1: Tapping Out—

I’m at the point in my reader-life where I see the name ‘Nikki Ash’ and I am in. Which means I opted into this one without bothering to read the blurb or any other details—imagine my delight when I realized these are the kids of the leads in her “Fighting” series! How fun—it’s like a ‘Fighting Series: Next Gen’ kinda thing and I am here for it.

This read takes a heartbreaking turn fast—having met Marco as a 12 or 13-year-old prior to reading this … I admit, I hadn’t seen that coming and my heart broke for him all over again, for different reasons in this series.

Continuity is on-point between this series and the one it seems to have spun off from—impressive!

MMA - both leads.
Lifelong friends to ‘it’s complicated’ to lovers to ‘it’s complicated’ again.
Small age gap - ~6 years.
Broken male lead due to his dark past.
Major misunderstandings / miscommunication.
Unplanned pregnancy.

Overall:
An incredibly fun read that kept me sane while I worked.
4 stars.

🎧 Audio:
Great! Excellent narrators, perfect performances and overall: high quality. 🦩

—#2: Clinched—

This one will pull at your heartstrings from the get-go … or it’ll anger, or both. The female lead is so incredibly broken, but doing her best and so strong (though she doesn’t think so). And of course he’s patient and perfect … well, nearly.

Broken heroine.
Male lead who has been burned a time or 2—leads to misunderstandings.
Inexperienced female lead with …
… a very dark past.
Mystery.
F!ghting of course.
Fresh start vibes.
Found family.
Major scandal.

I did predict every little step of this read from the first chapter—however that made it no less fun. I recommend this book and all the others in this world. Can’t wait to read on in the series.

4 stars.

—#3: Takedown—

HEARTBREAKING.
The way this book started out … ouch! (And I’m here for it, Ash always delivers.)

And of course in true Ash-fashion, it only gets better and packs in loads of familiar ‘faces’. Set around the MMA scene, with a successful fighter as the male lead and a hard-working nurse as the female lead, this book is incredibly sweet—also typical of Ash. Even when she paints darkness, she always makes sure to draw in plenty of light.

I did have a few very minor plausibility issues with this one, but overall, I thought it was great and I couldn’t put it down.

🥊 MMA fighter.
🥊 Single mom.
🥊 A bit of other man drama.
🥊 Familiar circle of friends & found family vibes.
🥊 Roommates to lovers.
🥊 Kids.
🥊 Miscommunication / misunderstandings.
🥊 Male lead is a quiet protector.
🥊 Broken people who work hard to heal old wounds & start over.

It was predictable, down to every little detail, but that made it no less fun or sweet.

4 stars.

🎧 Audio:
Excellent performances, especially Reid at times—emotions really came through. And of course perfect overall sound quality. 🦩
5 stars.

***
For anyone who cares, and I’m only posting this bit on GR and BB, because I enjoy discussing books and welcome comments. :) Will leave it off Audible and other vendors. Plausibility / continuity issues for me—which as stated were super MINOR, hence me still having a good reading experience overall:

- He mentions fearing being able to provide for a child. AFTER it’s already stated that he’s worth 70 million. Even if something happened in his career, wouldn’t 70 million set up at least one more generation for life?

- Mila seemed to be a great and loving mom, and in a good relationship with her baby-daddy who was also seemingly a good dad. Why then, was she willing to move a strange man into her home, with her young son after only meeting him once for a few moments? I get the money issues and why she was taking on a roommate but I felt like her lack of precautions, trial periods, meeting first outside the home for coffee—something—to be implausible.

—#4: Knocked Down—
Ash’s reads are always a good time—and I’m loving all the ‘Fighting’ books because there’s crossover and I get to see how previous leads ended up. Very nice touch.

He’s a reformed manwh0re and she’s been burned one too many times, so she friendzones him. Oh and he has an adorable kid—making the whole thing light and fun.

Neighbors to lovers.
Hesitant FMC - she’s been cheated on a ton.
Single dad … with trauma.
Second and third chances.
Misunderstandings.
Mentions of su|cide.
Lots of past trauma, healing.

Overall:
Super cute, quick, fairytale-like read.
4 stars.
