Be Still, My Soul

My prayer for the western church is that they would read this book. D A Carson #18 is what we need to hear, it is wonderful. The book is excellent from start to finish.

Uplifting

Each chapter has some kind of inspiration and truth to offer about our Heavenly Father's tender care and love.

I especially liked chapters 5 and 7. I find great comfort in knowing that while I will soon be divorced from a deceptive husband of 25 years that I'm never ever alone while raising my daughter. I will soon move from my support system here but I'll always be supported and loved by my Father in Heaven. Praise God!

An Organic Gem

Falling into the ground and dying is not exactly the comfort one often expects, but the surprise of grace is infinitely unpredictable. This little volume is worth its weight in gold. Or, perhaps I should say, worth its weight in compost activator. My dad used to buy a small bottle of compost activator to encourage his compost pile to get on with its job of "dying." He had a beautiful yard of grass and flowers to show for his efforts in organic gardening. Be Still, My Soul is a little volume of soul activator of surprising potency bearing the weight of glory.

Experiencing Gods comfort

Nancy Guthrie, herself intimately aquatinted with suffering, has compiled for us some of the most significant and illuminating thoughts on the subject of suffering, it’s purpose and how God uses it to accomplish His will in the life of the Christian as well as in our world. She has shared them with us because of how profoundly these believers, both past and present, have comforted her in what they have written and offers it to us in like manner. I have learned so much from the experiential wisdom of those who have been comforted by God and are now comforting others as they have been comforted and have ordered these in paperback to share with those who are going through times of intense suffering right now and trust that they will find comfort in its pages. 2 Corinthians 3:1-5 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.”

A needed book to develop a theology of suffering

Great anthology to develop a theology of suffering. These are anchoring truths of God when the believer undoubtedly goes through trials.
