Publisher's summary

She's the girl next door. He's the guy who's loved her from afar.
They're in for an unexpected tumble into love.

She'll juggle your balls.
For Stella Allesandro, chaos is good. She's a rising star at a leading sports publicity firm. She's known throughout the industry as the jock whisperer - the one who can tame the baddest of the bad boys in professional sports without losing her signature smile.

But Cal Hartshorn is an entirely different kind of chaos.
He'll fix your broken heart.
This former Army Ranger and now-famous cardiothoracic surgeon fails at nothing...except talking to a woman he's adored from afar. Whether on the battlefield or operating room, he's exacting, precise, and efficient, but all of that crumbles when Stella is in sight.

Cal always knows - and gets - what he wants, and now he wants all of her. His forever girl.
But Stella isn't convinced she's anyone's forever.

Very good

This had all the things I love:

1. The H is strong, handsome and dedicated
2. The h is strong, beautiful and successful (equality)
3. ***the H is NOT a man-whore (this is a big one for me and very hard to find.)

Of course, it is not perfect. The h's reasons for no commitment are kinda dumb and her client who gives advice while living his life as a spoiled baby are a bit much. But, I laughed so hard when the H's friends gave him a hard time about how he finally met his girl. And, the narrators were good, especially Jason Clarke. I am looking forward to rereading it in the future.

Before Girl

I love Stella & Cal. They were so great, and absolutely hilarious. From their first meeting in the park, to meeting her family and friends. It was great stepping back into the Walsh's world you can never go wrong with the fun banter and crazy that ensues.

The audio performance by Virginia Rose and Jason Clarke was so well done, it really brings out the characters and makes the book/story that much better.

Loved these characters

I really loved this book. I love that a female was in the sports management world and loved all things sports and was so knowledgeable. The characters were fun, and real and the narration couldn't have been better. Jason Clarke and Virginia Rose are Rock Stars.

#manbrick met his mate! Swoon worthy rom com

I want to preface by saying I love everything by Kate Canterbary and have read Before Girl and love it! I also want to say how much I love this audiobook and think that Jason Clarke and Virginia Rose were such great casting for Cal and Stella. Jason really got his growlly down and how much he wants Stella but tried to play nice because she has commitment issues due to past relationships. Virginia is Stella and all her take charge attitude and vulnerability. How she tried to order her life because she is a publicist and is always fighting fire for her clients. Their chemistry is hot AF.

I took a star from the performance because Audible did not do a good job of continuity and making sure that last name were pronounced correctly. Since I have already owned all her previous books and the character is recurring I expect them to get it right or be consistent. If you have never read Before Girl this audio is beautifully done and will make your heart swell and squeeze your heartstring.

Just ok for me

Narrators are very good but I felt like there was something missing from the story, Maybe just not enough back story, I'm not really sure. I was a decent story but the entire time I was listening I just felt there should have been more to their storyline.

WOW

My new FAVORITE author!!! God what a talent! Detailed storyline..not typical formula. Saying "well developed characters and dialog" doesnt even come close. Warm, humorous, super sexy...and the PERFECT artists to narrate...also my favorites. I can't recommend this enough!!!!

Great story but I hate a word that's used a LOT

I typically enjoy Kate Canterbury, but she uses the word "cunt" A LOT. It's not sexy. And the male MC in this book is a sweet/respectful dude who takes no for an answer and endures the aggressively self empowered female MC continuakly putting him in his place.. To constantly hear him call her vagina "cunt" is not in line with the rest of his characterization. It's jarring to me.
Otherwise, the story is great. She's self empowered and makes no bones about it, she's not a waif (she's a size 14 with curves), and she is unashamed of her active sex life. All qualities I can appreciate.
He's a just plain nice guy with a great job, can lay it down like the best of them, who gives his love interest all the space she needs without trying to diminish her power.
Their story is pretty realistic and the spice is just right.
So Kate, please, please stop saying the C word. It's just not romantic or sexy.
