About this listen

Trans woman and screenwriter Tilly Bridges takes you through the trans allegories of the Matrix franchise, with deep dives into The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, The Animatrix, The Matrix Revolutions, and The Matrix Resurrections, tracking one person’s transition journey—from Thomas Anderson, to Neo… to Trinity.

Each movie’s allegory is deeply layered, building from movie to movie, and speaks to a different aspect of trans existence. You’ll learn how color is used to convey more than you realize, how Neo’s psyche is personified in the people around him, how no other mass media franchise speaks as truly, deeply, and honestly to the trans experience, and exactly why these movies are beloved and vital to the trans community (and their cis allies).

Free your mind, and see just how deep the rabbit hole goes.

What if I told you…

That Begin Transmission is a phenomenal work. A deep dive into a groundbreaking sci-fi franchise and shining a light on what lies beneath a great story- an allegory about the transgender experience. Tilly’s passion for and love of the topic is evident in every word she writes, and speaking those words in her own voice, her true voice, just brings that out even more. Absolutely recommended whether you’re secure in your identity or still putting things together. Take the ORIGINAL red pill and find out just how deep the rabbit hole goes. You may surprise yourself. And maybe even find yourself.

Thorough, thoughtful, mind opening

I needed the allegory in the Matrix explained to me, thoroughly, scene by scene. This book met that need. Delightful. Necessary.

Whole new appreciation for the Matrix movies

I dove into this audiobook like it was a secret level in a game, and wow, did it level up my understanding of the Matrix movies. Suddenly, Resurrections isn't just another sequel; it's my top pick, knocking the original off its pedestal. If you're a Matrix fanatic, this audiobook is like finding the source code - it's a must-listen.

The content hooks you in, and the narration? Spot on. The author lending her voice adds this layer of realness, making every word hit home. Sure, there are a couple of hiccups here and there, but who's counting? It can get a bit preachy, but let's be real, it earns that soapbox moment. I've hit replay on some sections already, and thanks to its neat film-by-film breakdown, it's the perfect sidekick for a Matrix binge.

Totally stoked about snagging this gem. It's not just a listen; it's a motivation boost, wrapped in a geek-out session.
