Publisher's summary

The vaunted power of the Mage’s College. Unbounded freedom among the Wolfmen. The best of both worlds.

Recent college grad Sam King was hoping for a backpacking trip across Europe as a graduation present. Instead, he’s going to get a different kind of trip: a three-month stint in the ultimate immersive gaming experience. As a lifelong geek, gamer, and outsider, it’s a better gift then he’d ever dreamed.

But when he jumps feetfirst into the world of Eternium, run by CAL (the Certified Altruistic Lexicon), it’s not exactly what he expected. All he wants is to quest, game, grind some levels, and get his hands on awesome loot. You know, have fun! But the Mage’s College seems to have a very different definition of fun - one involving study, blisteringly strict regulations, aristocratic hierarchy, and tons of pay to play.

Sam crosses the college and finds himself running for his life with a back-talking book that is far more than it seems and a class that no one has even heard of. If he can navigate the deadly college politics and the looming war with the barbaric Wolfmen, he might just find the fun and adventure he was looking for.

Buy it, buy it now!

This story was awesome! If you haven't read the Completionist Chronicles yet, I'd start there first. This has several references to the completionist story that are just too fun. If you haven't read the Completionist Chronicles, the references to it will fly right over your head. I can not believe how much fun this was to listen to! I really enjoyed it! And Nick Podehl always puts so much fun and excitement into the characters! I love listening to him! Seriously, I can't recommend this book more! It was so much fun!

Love to see this universe grow

further growth from the Mountain Dale series of books. This time we see things from a different perspective and watch the world building more, but from the side of the wolfmen instead of the world of men.

Amazing!

Fantastic book, excellent story with relatable characters and experiences. Highly recommended for both the amazing story and wonderful job of narration by Nick Podehl.

if I could give more than 5 stars, I would

seriously, I love the adventures of DK. The puns, the clever use of powers, the tie-ins to the other books. I cannot wait to read more of this series. As a hobby bookbinder, this one was of particular interest to me. Thanks James and DK.

Slow start but good book

I thought the books was pretty good listen overall.

I was a little bit doubtful after reading the other reviews. I love the other James hunter books and Dakota krout books and this one wasn’t disappointed.

Awesome

I loved this book. It's good know why Joe went bald. I'm looking forward to the next book.

An excellent addition

While this book has a different tone than any of the others in the completionist chronicles. It has enough nods to our ritualist protagonist to keep you smiling through out. I so hope that Joe and Sam someday meet.

Dungeon Born

Huge fan of Dakota Krout and the world he made through Mountain Dale. I started this series with hopes of having the two connected and there is still a possibility. This particular story was closer to the mid-adventures of Rockland Barclay rather than Artirian or Kale.. I’ll continue with the series in hopes of a connection, if nothing else it’ll help fill time for the new books to be released!
