Publisher's summary

His first, last and only true love has always been rugby. Until now. She's damaged. He's determined. Fate brought them together. Love binds them.

Johnny Kavanagh has everything going for him. On the rugby pitch, he's a force to be reckoned with. Primed for stardom, he's heading straight for the top. Nothing can possibly get in his way, right? Not even the shy new girl at Tommen College. The one with the sad eyes and hidden bruises. The one that distracts him like no one ever has.

Plagued with a hidden injury and desperate to impress the scouts watching his every move, Johnny has been placed on a pedestal so high, he has no room to make mistakes. Johnny needs to keep his head in the game. He needs to stay focused and cannot afford to let distractions get in the way of the big picture. But what happens when a lonely girl with sad eyes becomes the only picture?

Two teenagers from opposite sides of the tracks collide in the first audio instalment of Binding 13. Based in Ireland, the Boys of Tommen series is bound to captivate and lure you into the world of rugby, love and teenage heartbreak.

My absolute favorite

I’m not usually one to leave reviews and this is my first audible review. I’m genuinely jealous to anyone who gets to listen to binding and keeping 13 for the first time. I have listened to it all over and over again and it’s truly my favorite book series and audible listen overall. Chloe Walsh is an incredible writer and the voice acting is phenomenal. Truly some of the best narration I’ve heard from both sides. Hours and hours of laughing and crying and falling in love with all the characters. I cannot say enough good things about this series

LONG but Emotional

oh my gosh this book put me through the ringer. I think I experienced every emotion on the spectrum. It was so damn long (600 pages) and none of the action happened until the last hundred pages, but it was worth it. The reason this doesn't get 5 stars is because of how slowly this book moved.

I told myself that I was not going to read Keeping 13 after this one because I needed a break from giant books, but after how this one ended...I need to read the second one immediately.

Binding 13 is the story of an unlikely friendship (that develops into more) between Johnny and Shannon. Johnny is a wealthy, star rugby player at Tommen College and Shannon is a tiny, anxious and emotionally damaged girl from the "other side of the tracks." She is bullied so hard at her public school (and in her own home) that her mom is forced to take out loans to send her to Tommen College. Shannon has a somewhat rough first day at Tommen, but meets Johnny, which begins an epic story of their friendship and love.

Like I said, this book was a rollercoaster of emotions. It had very hard themes of abuse in it and also had themes of pushing yourself nearly to death for one's future. It was a hard read, but at the same time, this book had me laughing out loud. The banter was great and there were so many parts of this books that I absolutely loved. The love story between Shannon and Johnny is unmatched (I just wish it had moved a tad bit faster).

Overall, there isn't much I can say about the book without spoilers, but I will say that it was worth the 600 pages and I will be reading Keeping 13 ASAP.

Good story

I was pleasantly surprised with the first half of the book. I thought it would be cringe due to the ages but it wasn’t really. I will be starting the next half now.

Epitome of slow burn.

I love the development of these characters and the very rich narrative of each of their lives. I like how much they see each other even though they met in wild circumstances. Protective and fierce loyalty to a girl he just met, Johnny is swoonworthy 😍 also the angst and tension (the good kind) is killing me.

Slow burn but great story

I am really invested in this story. My heart goes out to both these MCs. They are both going through vastly different troubles in their lives and I think the author did an amazing job in building their backstories and inspiring empathy for both. It is a slow paced story but I am okay with that because we get an extremely thorough story.

The narration couldn’t be better. Even when the story is at a slow point, I don’t feel it as much because the audio is so entertaining. Both narrators have done an amazing job at bringing every emotion to the forefront, and there has been a lot of emotion so far. I am going to be jumping right in to part two.

Mathews voice really made this book entralling!

This was the perfect voice pairing. I loved every second of the book. I binged both parts of the book, hanging off every rumbly word Mathew said. Jacs voice was perfect for the timid Shannon. I can't even pick a favorite clip because I loved every sentence spoken. I honestly will be relistening to both parts while I await hopefully for the second book to be put to audio.
