Get Past Intro For Reward

the first portion of the book is an introduction to all the towns characters and gives an atmosphere of the town and the antagonist. it is very long and tedious and I'm not so sure necessary to the extent that it is. if you can get through this, you'll be rewarded with perhaps what is a better story than the first book in the Jack Sawyer series. there is also many references to the dark tower has King seems to have made Jack Sawyer a more integral part of the fight against the red king than one could have thought.

great sequel

loved it overall. great sequel. starts off slow but got better quickly. can't wait for the 3rd part.

Dark Tower Story?

I would gladly listen again. Great story and narration. It pulls from the Dark Tower series and stands on it's own. Loved it.

Must listen to The Talisman first

Don't make the same mistake I did by listening to this before I listened to The Talisman. You will be lost. You will "enjoy" the story (sort of) if you don't mind your head exploding for the far-out sci-fi mind of Stephen King. But once you listen to The Talisman you will understand how and why Jack Sawyer is involved in Black House. Fantastic and fantastical listen. Hold on to your seat.

Excellent sequel!

Jack Sawyer was a lovable hero as a 12 year old boy in the Talisman and his journey out west between this world and that of the territories was a remarkable story, making it a difficult act to follow in writing a sequel but King and Straub did it exceptionally well and Frank Mueller's talents as a narrator our second to none. I hope they are working on the 3rd one now and finish it soon, highly recommend this one and it's predecessor.

Frank Muller

Frank Muller is by far the best reader I have listened too. His readings and Stephen Kings writings are a amazing combo and makes it special. I wish Frank Muller was alive today so we could keep on hearing his amazing performances. Ka is a bitch.

had a hard time in the beginning.

Although I am a huge Stephen King fan, I had a difficult time getting into this book because of the voice of the reader. the way he uses the inflection in his voice sounded like he was trying to make every word breathy at the end or end in a question mark. It was very hard to listen to. By the end of the book, I had grown somewhat used to it, but it was still somewhat bothersome.

the story seemed to have a lot of description and the whole flying from one place to another was a little weird. All in all however, I did enjoy the book.

must listen too.

if you like the Gun slinger series this book is for you. you need to read or listen too it. it is an eye opener for that series

Great Book!

Loved it! And Frank Muller does great with the character voices. So in tune. 5 star.

Great follow-up

It’s really nice to see Jack Sawyer, again. The supporting cast of characters rounds out the story very nicely.
